Shopping for Marans eggs? Start here before you buy....

ya know i haven't seen her in awhile either i hope she is alright. in spring i hope she is ready for a bigger order from me, rotfl.

u r very welcome and i agree people need to be honest. any reputable breeder would tell u flaws or whatever info u wanted to know about their lines and would know it like the back of their hand.

i think if marans eggs r sold the buyer should see pics of actual eggs they r bidding or recieveing once bought. i also think many pics of parant stock and siblings should be openly viewable and if u r selling chicks then i want to see color of eggs hatched from too.

buyers need to know what they r purhaseing!

We discussed this in a pm, but I want to make sure that the intent of my thread is clear. This is not a thread to promote breeders, or conversely to bash anyone. It is a thread to help folks starting out look for places to find eggs from good stock for a reasonable price. I believe you if you had a bad experience and appreciate your sharing your thoughts. The Marans world is small. There just are not that many breeders, so it would be natural to find the same names on whatever forum you go to for Marans.

I appreciate your sharing your thoughts. And I mean that.

Now make sure you put what kind of birds you have on your siggie.

I will throw in my 2 cents worth.I bought my BCM from Black Copper King.I actually picked up my chicks and I think he has some really great looking Marans.Non of his hens that I saw had any white in them.The eggs were very dark.He had well over a 100 in his incubator and not one was anywhere close to being below 4 and most were 7 and 8 's.All had feathered legs and the chicks I bought are very lively and are eating great.I can not wait till they grow up and I start getting those eggs.

Hi! My name is BELINDA, and I live in CENTRAL Arkansas, and I have copper black Marans, and I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY CHICKEN BREEDERS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, Marans or otherwise!

Seriously--I've had people confuse me for Brenda, and I don't want that. She may be a perfectly delightful person, but she's done a lot of public name-calling, and that is NOT my style.

Ok, since this thread needs a positive tone...I bought some eggs from Greg Cole ([email protected]) and they are wonderful! He has beautiful birds and eggs. Here are the eggs I got from him and the babies that came out of them! They are now 3 weeks old and doing great!
