I have a chick that yolk sac didnt absorb all way and left very small bit out...like crumble good size and now it's dried up but left a little hard bump...if I want to get her back with momma should I try or will other peck at it!? That's what I'm afraid of but this chick is a live wire and crazy! She's obviously doing well... Just don't want to do wrong thing but it would be best to get with momma to raise...she's in now with another late hatcher I need to get under momma if my momma will accept her! :/ ugh! I hate all this accepting crap you deal with!

It's on the bottom of the chick, right? I'd think they won't peck at it much since it's not something sticking out and obvious. I'd think the sooner the better to try to see if it can go with its mom. Just keep a close eye on them and make sure it's following mama and isn't being pecked.

I always leave chicks with their mama if at all possible. Did you incubate the eggs? if the mama is broody, she will hatch the eggs. If she is not, she may not accept any chicks to raise.

I incubated some and then she hatched out her own 10...one i already got her to accept, the other (1 im talking about) still in ICU and then the one late hatcher was under another who gave up and I took to finish hatching in incubater...that mommas still "broody" but I just don't trust her bc of her past-I'm giving them one more night to gain some strength and kinda team up to be put with all those other chicks and her :/ oh I hope she can't count!!!
