I have 3 Red Sex-link chicks about 3 weeks old, I am noticing some blood in the stool, it's not super red, but it is kinda of pink to redish in color. The chicks seem healthy they are active eating non-medicated chick feed all seems good. I have attached some pictures Please let me know if I should be concerned or if this is normal....

Since they are runny and the mucus is pinkish along with blood,I would go get some Corid (amprollium) liquid or powder, and start treatment for coccidosis. When chicks start looking sick, sometimes it can be too late. Dosage is 2 tsp. of the liquid, or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water (as their only source) for 5-7 days. Then give some vitamins and probiotics for seval days afterward. Three weeks later you might want to retreat them with just 1/3 of that dose for another 5 days for prevention, since they are young.

I'm going to pickup some Corid today, thanks Eggcessive for the info...

So I live in Brazil and went to the store I bought the chicks from and I told them the chicks might have Coccidiosis or "coccidiose" in Portuguese they did not have Corid or even heard of it, but they did recommend Vetococ which is used in Brasil for Cocciciosis was told to mix the power with 2 liters of water and give it to them for 3 days and continue for another 2 if the simptoms are still present

Vetococ contains the following items:

Sulfamethazine - 12.5g
Sulphaquinoxaline - 5.00g
Bacitracin Zinc - 2.5 g -

I'm mixed up a batch of water for them... Wish us luck...

Yes, it helps to know where you live since different medicines go by different names. Vetococ is similar to Sulmet, a sulfa antibiotic. Corid is a brand name for amprollium, which is used in many countries under different names. Let us know how they get along, and good luck.

I live in USA Georgia and I had the same problem and had to do the same treatment with the medication that eggcessive said to do and it worked and I also gave mind a 2 treatment about a week and a half later.
