Should I Be Worried About This POO? I Am...

This was the poo my hen Gypsy left last night and has been passing all day today. Last week she had surgery for an impacted crop. I am struggling to get her to eat or drink. I searched a couple other sites and cannot find a picture of poo that looks like it..

I am not an expert on chicken gumballs, but would be more worried if the poo was runny rather than like dog cigars. Lets see what others think.

Is this how her poo looked every since surgery? Or when did it start? Did you get after care instructions for her? What are you feeding? Putting anything in the water? Back with the flock? Free range?

I'm not a poop expert, but it looks like she is passing a large amount of uric acid or urates, which is kidney waste. I don't know if that is significant or not. I would just make sure that she is eating and drinking enough, and that her crop is emptying normally. If not get her to a vet or avian specialist. Offering chopped egg, tuna, plain probiotic yogurt with the usual feed can get them to eat. Also water added to her feed would hopefully get her to take more liquids.

This has been going on for the last few days. These are small harder pellet white coated poops. She had surgery 8 days ago & they pulled a baseball sized mass of junk from her crop. My initial fear was she would be starving & stuff her crop after (she's lowest in the pecking order & has always been glutinous) but she has failed to thrive so to speak. She did 2 weeks of antibiotics & I've been offering mushy layer pellets. I have her confined in my garage away from the flock with lots of water & i offer food hourly as well as free choice with grit & oyster shell (even though she's not laying). She still wants to forage for food, but just eats little amounts at a time & shakes her head. She had her crop flushed multiple times in the week leading up to surgery & I'm begining to wonder if all the tubes down her throat are causing complications. I'm planning to move her inside tomorrow where its warmer since its getting way cold. Scrambled eggs are the only thing she will scarf down. She's getting so thin from the impacted crop & surgery & lack of interest in food & water...I'm not sure what to do...

Also forgot to mention she had a wide range of watery to black to orangey poops within the first few days after surgery...the white hard poops have been more consistent now...sigh

Chickens often shake their head to get stuff out of their throat because they do not have a gag reflex.

I would offer an electrolyte solution if not something like Nutri Drench or Sav-a-chick or rooster booster. Recipe is - 2 cups warm water, 1/2 teaspoon each salt and baking soda, and 2 tablespoons brown sugar. You can substitute white sugar or molasses. And you can also add Poly vi Sol baby vitamins with NO iron. The B's should help.

If you feel like she needs more liquids because those are hard poos, you can drip drops of liquid on her beak and when they roll around to her mouth she will gobble them. Even water down her eggs. Even with the electrolyte solution as long as you don't keep trying to re-hydrate them with it since salt does not evaporate it could become too concentrated in that application.

Those ones after surgery were probably normal surgery related, speaking from own funky experience related to sedation and such.
