Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

looks like Ratchet could use one of the Kong treat dispensers to chew on! I have a tiny one for the Pugs, but Ruby didn't like it... Hazel, who was killed by a truck driving too fast up my little rural road, loved it and needed it... she destroyed a few pair of my shoes, a floor style file box, and the foot board of my bed... I know he's a huge handful for a little guy, hang in there because he will be a great member of the family! he'll get the hang of it all - housebreaking is a long process, but the weather will turn soon and stay pleasant, which will make it much easier as he can spend more time outdoors...

He is the most destructive thing I have ever seen! He was running around with a mayonnaise jar the other day... and then half of a peanut butter jar! I mean, there was only 1/2 of the plastic jar!!!!!!! I have no idea where the rest was, or even where it came from! And he Constantly has a stick in his mouth... or two.... I have looked locally for Kongs but haven't found any.... guess I am going to have to break down and buy one....

my first Pug, Clara... had a best friend. a 160 lb Doberman, named Thor. they were a riot, somewhere there is a photo album of the two of them, should find it and scan the pics... anyway, Thor thought he was little like Clara, and Clara thought she was big, like Thor. She would come out of the woods dragging tree limbs. 5' long... yankin' on her little neck. and Thor would dash under the dining room table legs, toppling furniture... they were the best!

Hey guys.
Nothing new to report here. Except it was -22 this morning. Another 50 degrees would be nice

. I had a Dr appointment about 45 minutes from my house and one of my kids had a stomach bug on friday and I've been on pins and needles waiting for the other shoe to drop....for the rest of the household to go down. I just knew it would hit me when I was 45 minutes away and I would have to somehow drive home with digestive matter trying to find the nearest exit but that didn't happen. WHEW! Now that's over, I am ready for my stomach bug. Fire away!

Maybe that will help me keep my hands of my eggies.

Last night I borrowed a really nice flashlight from a friend and grabbed one egg to try it out on only to discover that is was a very recent quitter. This morning I looked it over really carefully and then took it out. I didn't think I was going to be able to open any quitters, but I was curious, so I did.

Interesting, and a little sad. Poor little baby chickie. It made it to about day 6 or so. Everyone else will have to wait until day 10 to be checked. Weird to think that wednesday they'll be halfway done.

The lady I got them from also has marans and I now wish I had gotten a couple. As it stands right now I have 15 good ameracauna eggs and 9 mystery eggs. The lady I got my eggs from also has marans. She's going to be in town the day before my eggs are scheduled to hatch and she offered to bring me a couple of marans. I'm not sure. I love their eggs but if even half of what I have here, I am going to have a lot of chicks that I need to whittle down to the final 4. I'm so torn! I'm so jealous of all of you that can just give in to chicken math. Stupid city limits!

Hope you fight off any germs! My nephew was here this weekend and when I got him up Sunday morning he said he was sick and puked during the night!!! I hate germs!!!!

-22? I guess I won't complain about my regular 22 day.

if I had to choose only 4, I would take Peach, Wilma, Sillie and Rhody. Rhody is a rooster, but he never crows. and not because he's not dominant. he is. he just doesn't crow. every single other rooster here crows, at will...at breakfast, it's a crow-a-thon. so I think I could sneak him. if he started to crow, I would have to have Peach hatch an egg for me until I get a pullet. if I could only have one, which is ridiculous IMHO, it would be Peach. but it would be heartbreaking to not have the rest.

I collected 15 Eggs today - although when I picked up the second egg from the Fosters, it was frozen, my thumb went in... it was still pretty soft, albeit cold. so I fed it straight back to them, they devoured it in a split second. lots of corn tonight, it's going to stay well below zero again. it's already 4 below.

Speaking of.... if when your house sells and you move out west, how are you going to move everyone? Or are you going to try to rehome?

I was chatting with my Dad about the cost effectiveness of replacing the flock with chicks and waiting 6 months, or with 16 week old pullets and spending more $$, and he was immediate in his response ~ you will take your flock with you. they have trucks for moving animals. SO. I let that be my happy end of story. I'm taking them. and one day when I posted a pic of a really cool spider on FB, my Dad said "you don't have to bring all your pets with you", but since then, he's told me to pick up a pair of llama or alpaca and bring them... too funny... anyway. I get to keep my flock.

Roger said tell everybody HI and she will catch up with you all. She is not feeling well due to her being pregnant with her egg due July 27th. I hooked up a brooder light in her coop tonight to warm the coop up a bit in these single digits tonight. (Actually I had the RIR rooster in mind and trying to avoid any more frostbite on the young mans comb). Roger however thinks it is for her and I won't be telling her any different. Nine eggs today with one chance for a perfect day this year on July 27th. :fl (Give or take six months)
