Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Does anyone know how to keep cats out of my yard? Like is there something I can sprinkle on the ground? Pepper? Mothballs?

How big an area? Is it annoyance factor, digging/pooping? My sister has neighborhood cats using her front planter as a litter box. She laid down some chicken wire and they seem to have moved on. My brother has a very small back yard and cats were digging in his raised beds so he put up a motion activated sprinkler (there are also motion activated alarms). I wouldn't put anything down that the chickens or dogs might get a hold of (like mothballs).

You could trap them and turn them in.

Dogs keep the cats out of our yard, so I've never had to worry. You can borrow Scooter!

(Scooter wants to know how much he has to pay you to get to chase cats in your yard.)

I'm so happy. The 2 little kids went into the coop for bed tonight all on their own. And the big girls let them!!!! Another successful integration!

CLindz, congrats on the integration! it's always so awesome when things go smoothly!

I still have to catch Sillie and Peach at the end of free range and put them back in the new section that's just for them. Esther? she beats her little feathered feet straight back - she loves that section of pen! it's a riot to watch her deftly maneuver around all the large fowl to go home.
oh, and Mylee says Sillie Soo is a "dumb" name.

so, I've decided to call her Gossamer, that is... when I remember

Scrambles, I would not be worried about cats going after the chickens, or even the chicks. well, maybe a little for the chicks because Rumples isn't 100% able to defend them... but really, chickens are often as large and sometimes larger than the average cat. they can handle them... not like dogs, coyote, foxes...

doh... eta 25 Eggs today

I can't even tell you how many eggs I have gotten lately... at least not without looking at the calendar.

I have been walking around in a daze all day..... I had to take Kelsey to the dr for a well-child visit. I did ok, until I came home, and I didn't have a little yapping, bouncing Parker waiting for me. I lost it. Part of the kids were asking if we can get another one today.... I don't know if I can do that or not.....

Whenever you adopt a dog... you save a life. The loss of Parker is giving another pup a chance for a wonderful life with your family. It is difficult to decide right now. Time will let you know, when one door closes... another opens. Hugs....

Your heart will heal Lindz with a new dog not as a replacement for Parker but for the new dog itself! Parker will always be a part of the family. If you have the time and energy (tho I don't know how you do it w 4 kids and rachet!!) then go for it. Adopt a shelter dog which will always make you feel good for a life rescued even when you are missing Parker.

I think that Meanie is okay. I let him run with his siblings and he was very well behaved. No fights at all. It has been a cold and rainy day, but when the sun peeked out, I went out and picked up Rumples... put her in my lap and massaged her feet. I could feel her body relax and she purred. My goal is to get her on her back to work her legs a bit. The new coop will be done this weekend and the fun begins. I am keeping the old coop and will cut the legs off so that Rumples can walk into it if she needs to.
