Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!
Penny squatted. For real. Not one of those fake squat/run away deals. An honest to goodness squat.
Then I chased her around the yard like an idiot to see if she would do it again. She did. I must be very handsome for a rooster.

Won't be long now.....my first hen to lay an egg for me was a Penny. I bet your neighbors were amused and the chickens thought you were a funny looking rooster.

and Welcome!! she will lay so soon - like within a week. she is so ready and beautiful.

I had a ridiculously long day. 10 hours. 135+ miles. but I finished. by the time I got home, they were roosting, and lots of eggs had been eaten all over the place - even in the Foster pen, the nest was all wet and there was only 1 egg left. 3 more survived exposed and 6 more were safe under Esther. 10. that's it. and Ruby pooped in the house. @subhanalah, I know why my eye twitches and stress makes it worse... I have meds for it but can't take it while working because it grows fur on my brain which is dangerous while driving. too much stress for the last couple of weeks is all... it's all over next Tuesday, life goes back to a nice easy pace and it will go away

So today I went to the breeder that I got my ameracaunas from. A friend wanted some chicks so she took a ride up there and I tagged along. I resisted the charms of a nice marans pullet...I am over my limit anyway and that would have thrown my flock into chaos even if they could see her from across the yard and then I'd NEVER get eggs.

I could get used to this squatting thing. Sure makes em easy to catch.
