Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Bear with me.... I took liberties with this one. I couldn't resist the "blue moon" thing.

@cheeka ..... I am glad that you had such a good time! You deserve to let lose.

I like the color effect on your moon. I got one too... from last night. it's "eh" but sharing anyway...

the flock didn't seem as disturbed by the heat and humidity as I was. I was really uncomfortable, so I sacrificed a pretty big bag of frozen peas. scattered them all over the place - at first they were seemingly too frozen to eat, but of course, that was only momentary... and I do believe they found every last pea hidden in the grass. - speaking of grass... my wrap around driveway's stone is completely devoured by earth. they are standing in it in this photo - I just noticed today that the gravel is gone. I blame the chickens. I'm certain they ate most of it and then their poop fertilized the area to grow the grass in.

17 Eggs today

Came home from Zumba at 8:15 and locked the girls up and there was 1 final egg in the nest waiting for me. I have 2 doz for the hubby to sell tomorrow and I'll take 1.5 doz to work.

@cheecka I could not imagine getting 17 eggs in one day.

I got up to do a final check on eggs, when I got to the door, I forgot why I was there.

17 Eggs today
You always have such beautiful pictures!

47 chickens total. 7 chicks, 7 roosters, 33 hens. 4 not laying - Peach, Gossamer, BBMama (Finnia) and Esther, although Esther does lay once in a while, she's so broody, but I can't convince her to move to a better spot. so 17 is essentially half... days are getting shorter... it's already having it's effect. same as last year. I may not see an "over 20" day again until mid January... such is a chicken's life. I don't mind, I'm still getting enough to keep my customers happy, and have some for myself... although I do dread the big drop off coming by October.
