Maybe. They tend to lay a bit later each day, though, so maybe 6 or 7 am.

Like your dirt bath pic. The barred one (rock?) looks to be of laying age. Nothing from her yet?

Also unless they drop one from the roost by accident, they don't lay at night. So of it comes while you're sleeping it's because she woke up earlier than you .

Penny didn't read the textbook and she lays at the crack of dawn every day. Maybe 2 of her 14 or so eggs she has laid have been later than 8 am. Wilson is....Wilson. she is all over the place.

I just ate pizza. It was day old but still good.

I'm thinking I need to quit expecting eggs anytime soon. After a few of them grew nice big red combs I got excited and started checking several times a day. But none of them squat. I haven't heard any of them sing. One of them, my favorite, Pineapple, has a very roomy 2 finger spread, or a very tight 3 finger spread. But my fingers are small. Red started going red first so I thought she would be my first layer, but she barely has a two finger spread. They are 19 weeks. I need to put my patience pants back on. sigh
