Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Now I want a Dr. Pepper. I haven't had one in years! Not much for soda, but I can still remember Dr. Pepper being my favorite when I was a teen.
OK, you have some good ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, some of the girls squat. But I don't use that as an indicator. To be honest, a few hours after I first posted on this thread, my first pullet laid her first egg. I had 4 hens from someone else, and wasn't expecting an egg for another month or two. The only reason I am even excited now, is because I have 14 girls that are going to be new layers around the same time. Going from 4 -5 eggs/day to 18/ day is like

. Point being, I don't see a difference in "Mom, I want attention!" and "Mom, I am going to lay soon!"

ahhh memories... 1977, Dr. Pepper and Doritos... then, one day, i threw it up. haven't touched either since.

thinking more about it now... it was probably the Doritos. they aren't gluten free

yes, found out when I was 22, but i was plagued by all kinds of digestive problems forever, thing is, i was born with it, but it didn't fully present at birth, celiac babies smell funny, so if you didn't find out right away, you might not have found out for years and years, and all those years and years, eat the wrong food... nowadays, they know more, and test kids who get lots of stomach aches, or weird rashes, or who are smaller in stature than the rest of the family...

I got to take this most fabulous awesome trip to Italy last year... and eating there was so easy ~ you'd think in the land of pizza and pasta it might not be so slick... however, they are very well educated about celiac, every Italian citizen has had the ability to be tested and every baby born in Italy is tested. GF food has come a very long way in the past 26 years that I've been eating GF... most specifically the last 5 years ~ major strides, not just palatable food, but delicious food. so I had the most amazing pasta dishes in Italy... I have to go back someday... hopefully soon!

Let the side of the tin stick up above the concrete so you can get the lid on the tin. Also this will keep spilled water from running down into the tin. Then drill a few holes thru the bucket even with the level of the concrete so the spilled water can run down the side of the bucket instead of rising up and going into the tin.

oh thank you, that's good to know.

Good info Cheeka. Coincidentally, I am 2 weeks into an experiment to go without wheat in my diet. Just tying to drop a couple (dozen) pounds and I know I would never be successful going carb free, so I chose to eliminate wheat because it's so predominant and too easy to gobble.

But have been thinking about my younger boy and how often he complains of stomach aches. Much more to consider now.

Happily, we can still eat eggs! Got 3 today!

And it took a while, but the mob has finally polished off the pumpkin.
December is looming. Don't know what has happened to most of November. This later time change seems to take longer to adjust to (or it's just me

). Kids have the whole of next week off from school. Is everyone having turkey?

I need a solar power water heater. Especially if I go off for a few weeks...not fair to expect my neighbor to chip ice....but don't have electric to the coop. I've had the falling roosts a few times, especially when they start getting bigger, and heavy....sorry guys, should have attached it better....one roost I have creaks alot now...best check it. At different ages it seems they do a shuffle on who sleeps where, as long as they hang butt outside the nest boxes I don't mind...however, now that they are past the chick stage, they have to learn to stay on the roosts. I have been winterising my coop and tossing over some expansion ideas, especially nesting boxes.
