Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

you saying you give them cat food if so what kind, i never heard of that one, i do have one hen that is almost bold looks sick but is running around the run and acting fine
 
Lindz - sorry you're hurting. I have had really good luck with a chiro helping me with various complaints of the neck and back, but you have to go a few times for maximum effect. Don't expect to go tomorrow and leave feeling like a million bucks. I had sciatica so bad when pregnant I couldn't hardly walk. My chiro sorted that out lickety split.

Gil - cat food. Yes. You can give them cat food but you want to go easy on it. I mix it in with my feed in the winter. It's just for an extra protein kick. Meat would do the same thing but we were given a bag of cheap cat food that I won't feed to my cat (he eats grain free expensive stuff) so I've been dosing it out to the birds. With chickens the cheaper the better because the cheaper brands have corn and stuff in them as a main ingredient which is great for chickens, not so much for cats. Just go easy.

you mix it with the feed or just give it to them in yard we give them a good scarch and 18% feed, i also have a dog and only give good food not cheap for him we pay good for the chicken feed as we do not get the cheap feed, never heard of cat food for chickens, put a first time try on anything that will help them, if i got it i would put it right in the can i have the feed in and mix it just like i do with the sunflower seeds in scarch

At 4:30 this morning, I just happened to look out the bedroom window. I could see a dark object on the snow near the coop. I said, "I think there is a raccoon in the yard. DH looks and agrees. I got my flashlight and shined it on the critter and could see the eyes glowing at me. We thumped on the window and yelled at it and it rambled toward the trees. When I went out with Cody, I could hear something in the back of the trees and told my old Cody dog to GET IT!! He heard it and took off after it. I could not see the raccoon, but I sure could hear it running and then climbing over the fence. Cody did hid job. Good dog. I hope that coon got scared enough to stay away. Poor old Cody is now a little sore. He gets extra treats.

I need to check the girls now.
