that's my day in a nutshell. up at the (butt) crack of dawn, sunrise was spectacular... the flock was still roosting for the most part, a few roosters crowing since about 4:30 didn't really rouse anyone, but they were all quick to get up when I came in with an early breakfast. spent all day together. first time in a long time the weather was nice for free range. only Gossamer didn't come out. she's still broody.
I spent the day at my aunt laws processing 6 r oosters and a duck...... I finally figured out where the saying "go pluck a duck" comes from. OMG. You basically have to pluck them twice, and they are awkward! We are going to do some more roosters next weekend weather permitting, and try the duck. None of us have ever eaten duck so it will be interesting.
