Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Someone needs to tell my leghorn this! Our exchequer leghorn lays the smallest white eggs. Our year old Polish just started laying, and her eggs are bigger than the leghorn's!

exchequer leghorns! Very pretty chickens.

I was thinking about white leghorns, the best non hybrid layer on average.

Mine wait tell they eat breakfast then they decide if they want to lay or not

We got her to add variety to our egg basket, and ended with a character. She is very flighty. Our birds do not free range, which is a good thing, because she'd be in the top of a tree. Each night, when the rest of the flock goes to the coop to roost, she roosts on top of the coop. We grab her, put her in the coop and shut the door to protect against raccoons. I wouldn't trade her though!

I miss those since my Leghorn quit laying. It makes the other eggs look even prettier by comparison.

the 2 pullet offspring from the final eggs laid by Peach. of the 6 eggs, 4 were boys. 3 of them look like her, one looks like Red, the Dad.
this one is Elinor. takes after Dad, Red...

and here is Merida. the spitting image of her beloved Mama. it's hard... a bit heart breaking that she looks so much like Peach. but I'm glad she does. I so miss that sweet hen!

Portia, investigating the nest 2 days in a row! she is so tame, so mellow... wish it would rub off on the D'Uccle roosters. Tommy is still so mean (to me), and Max is still terrified (of me).
I think I will put her with Brutus, if she actually starts laying eggs...it would make mutts, but they would be so cuddly! those 2 temperaments together... call it the Love Button Line
