Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

So my neighbors have gotten use to bringing my chickens home. My location is rural residential. On my street there are a few 7-10 acre properties and some typically suburban lots. Well my chickens free range pretty much all day so I am not shocked when one goes missing. Saddened but not shocked.

I have 4 -8 month old polish and 2-2 month polish. The older are from a breeder the younger are hatchery. But they are all idiots. Twice now I've had a neighbor bring one of the older polish home. Another neighbor called to tell me one of them was around the corner heading away from the house. And mid week I lost one of the babies...no idea where she went. Well today another neighbor stopped by w the baby!!3 days she was missing!!!! Ugghhh they're nuts. None of my other breeds go anywhere!!

can anything be done without an incubator to save this baby?
The good thing is that there is no blood!

Do you have a brooder? You can use a heating pad on low to keep it warm. It should be at 95 degrees. I would use wet q tips to remove the membrane and try getting the chick out. After that is getting it to eat and drink. I usually give them a drop of ply vi sol without iron twice a day too.

Best!

What day is she at? I would say the most important thing would be temp and keeping her "moist" but not wet. Perhaps a paper towel w bacitracin over the opening. Maybe put in a blanket w a heating pad??? I'm just brainstorming here...

it's probably day 19 into 20 from the look. it wants out, but that takes time. it's in the heating pad, and I was so sweaty from being nervous about it being in my bra... it's humid enough for now. lol.
wish me luck!

Keep us updated!

went to water the flock and get the Silkies put away - came back in and the chick is out of the egg! not a drop of blood on the shell/membrane/chick... and it looks good! it won't need to eat or drink til tomorrow at least... but I'll dip its beak. pics in a bit! tough little cookie!

Yes, looking forward to updates. No blood is a good sign, like ron said, pretty ready.
Keep it warm, but not too warm on that heating pad. At this point, humidity won't matter, can't keep that where it supposed to be with it not in a bator. That's ok, as long as you pick away at some of the shell from time to time, about 2 hrs. apart is what I am thinking. Hopefully the yolk has absorbed too.
