Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Well, it turns out that my pullet must've layed her first egg yesterday because I just found another egg in the nesting box. I know it's hers because she was sitting in the nesting box a few minutes before. I hope I have a good layer.

clindz, that is hysterical! Love all the dos. Reminds me of boys' sculpted haircuts of the 80s. Modified mohawks and flat tops. The cockerel has quite a comb. What kind would you call that? Hope you can post more pics as they grow. I don't have a single crested bird (except son's cockatiel). I am envious of your cuties!!!!

Polish have a v shaped comb so I'm thinking that is what it is. All my others are regular combs besides my silkie.

there's a video over at Group of Seven... she took them outside (sort of). they didn't go more than a few feet from the safety of the pen, but they were the only ones out, along with Julius and Junebug... I wanted it easy to control. plus it was a bit cloudy...

Well.. Rumples' chicks are now 8 weeks old. I rehomed one chick that I was 99% sure was a cockerel. His face was very red and he looked the part. One chick is a pullet for sure. The other 3..
??? Cockerel is my guess. I am going to separate them from Rumples to give her a break. I promise to post pictures this weekend.
