Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

W4W, it's a 2014 book... glad they have lots of copies - hopefully the line moves quickly! or PM me your address and I'll mail you my copy! he's also written "Memory Wall", "Four Seasons in Rome", "About Grace" and "The Shell Collector" my library was closed this afternoon or I would have tried to get one or all of the rest...
I have 3 books from my Sister in Law that I will read next. and then 1 comedy from my brother. I'll save that one for last.

Well, they aren't making you wait much at all! That's wonderful. Hope they keep it up.

Thanks, I can wait on the list. My son has to do a big project on the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, so I stopped by 2 libraries today and picked up some books for him for research... after I'm done reading them! Very interesting stuff and loving all the old photographs. I've never read Anthony Doerr. Going to try to pick up some of his previous stuff to see if hubby likes it. He's been looking for a new author to read.

Hahaa! I am #218 in the queue! but there are a hundred copies, so won't be long. Could have been #155 in the large type, but there are fewer copies and much heavier.

Congrats datschicks! that's just so wonderful!

W4W, I read the whole book in the small type in 2 days. I couldn't see the television or the computer screen at all when i finished. but I hadn't done a thing but animal care, read, go to the bathroom, read, grab a hard boiled egg, read... for all that time straight. by this morning, my spectacles and my eyeballs were back to normal. I experience tunnel vision when avidly reading. I remember, when I was little, all of a sudden the type would change size, so I would look up from the book and watch the hutch on my dresser get big then small then big then small, and I liked it when it shrank and would stare at all the 'tiny" dolls on it. one night, my dad walked by my door and watched me, asked me what I was staring at, so I described what I saw. I was late for school the next morning because he took me to the eye doctor. glasses in the first grade. and he made me get baby blue frames. I wanted the brown ones. funny the stuff I remember... I also get pressure behind my eyes - my granddad had glaucoma, so I get tested every year. so far so good, but the pressure shows up. I can make my eyeball pops if I press on them - he saw me do that when I was a teenager on vacation... that was interesting... finding an eye doctor in a strange town. first time I had weights put on my eyeballs. I'm glad my dad paid such close attention.

my littlest are starting to get big, getting feathers already, which is essential, we're due to have a very heavy frost early next week, more a coating of snow than frost. getting ready for winter around here. I've got lots to do still...

anyway, back to the next book. I chose "A Long Way Home" by Saroo Brierley. "As a five-year-old in India, I got lost on a train. Twenty-five years later, from Australia, I found my way back. this is what happened in between." #1 International Best Seller, true story. so far, very good. good night to all* I promise to not be gone for more than a few days at a time. I'm still looking for Ruby even though the only hope comes from other people's wishes. no animal who has every "disappeared" from here has ever returned, except for one cat, who was really injured. made it back to die in the corner of the house by the chimney.

Yeah, I need to start reading (books) more. TV and computer on way too much. I got my glasses the summer before 7th grade. Great way to start jr high.

Welcome to puberty!
Cold weather already for lots of folks back east. We are having a mini heat wave. Temps about 10 degrees above normal. Almost 90 today. Good for the tomatoes that are still coming!

by next week we will finally have our first frost, we are over 2 weeks behind - I'll take it! it was a beautiful summer, and the start of fall was unseasonably warm. it all ends now. today will be in the 50's, by Monday, the high will be 40's and the overnight in the 20's. a little north of us will have their first snow. we usually have our first frost near the end of September. the tomatoes the chickens planted are still pushing out lots of fruit, so I will cover them at night through starting this weekend and pick them all for finishing in the window on Monday.

it's been great to unplug. I only go on the computer in the morning for about 20 minutes while I drink my coffee, then again in the evening while I catch bits of the news. the house is cleaner

although, I'm sure once daylight reaches 9 hours, my old habits will creep back in. I'll fight it with books. My SIL is reading Americanah, novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. she says she can't put it down. it's going on my list. My SIL is American, born in Michigan, but her heritage is Lebanese (Dad) and Palestinian (Mom). both her parents were raised as Antioch Catholics and came to America in the late 40's. she is the brightest jewel to be added to our family, ever. I adore her and I have know idea how she puts up with my "dry as toast" brother......... lol.

Cheeka, your temps are apparently higher than ours. 28* the next few nights. S**w too.
Happiness is: seven bags of layer feed, a bag of scratch and a bag of grower/finisher 'cause math happens (expecting teenaged Pencil Rocks this winter). I also bought crazy amounts of food. Mostly meat and cheese.
The bill was staggering, but I don't think I'll need to go shopping again for a long time!!
