Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

@cheeka
Love your house and 5 acres??? Oh how I would love 5 acres. I only have .5 acres. I will be selling my home in 18 months. It's 2400 Sq ft and I'm too tired to clean it. Too much clutter.... AND stepdaughter and twin 9 yr old boys are moving in with us soon. I'm freaking out!!

Hmmmm.... not sure that fun is the word. I am extremely private and love solitude. It's temporary and the good thing is, we can start to teach the boys about fishing and hunting. I'd like them to be able to survive off the land if it ever became necessary. I know that DH and I could easily do it. Even with my fibro self. Ha!!

I love this place, wish I could just pick it up and plop it on a new lot... I'm sad, can't take my flock... but have found good homes for the majority, the rest will go to the Wildlife Guy, who actually would love to have them all. the only pair I'm devastated about is Neffy and Brutus. I want them to stay together, with someone who will really love them. working on that...
getting a dumpster at the end of the week, or early next week at the latest, that will really help. I'm so stressed out.
speaking of, Scrambles... I understand the stress you are feeling with the kids moving in. When my step kids moved in, I was scared to death. but it all was fine, few bumped heads over the first few weeks, but that was minor. we had a good life, and a lot of fun... and now I have Grandchildren that are the Joy of my life

moving is hard, we did it 11 years ago moved from the home we had for 39 years and 4 kids to a new house in a new state with 3 acres, love it here we are in the middle of farm land, but some just but for sale up this summer so I guess there will be houses coming,
we got 10 new peeps 3 from one of our hens and 7 from a chicken auction they were only 2 days old, tried to give them to the mother hen but she did not want any part of them and she is not a good mother, she would kick he babies away from the feeder, we took them away from her. boy is she mad but they are better off, the other mother we had 2 years ago was a good mommy, but she is gone . here are the new ones only born in the night, now they are 2 weeks old. granddaughter is coming to visit tomorrow so she will have fun with them. we now have got down on count to 19 hens and one rooster it was getting to much for hubby to have 60 chickens this summer, he got very sick on me though it was over for him, but he pulled out of it good and all is ok with this amount of chicks as we had no place to sell eggs, daughter comes to get some now as she also moved into a new life here too even found a very nice man she married in feb. and our dogs get an egg a day coats look so nice.

I was counting birds this morning. Two poults were missing yesterday afternoon, and I still don't see them. I also don't see several pullets. I think ten are missing. Definitely have to be around somewhere. I am worried about the two-legged predator. Not the 4-legged or winged.
