Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

moving is hard, we did it 11 years ago moved from the home we had for 39 years and 4 kids to a new house in a new state with 3 acres, love it here we are in the middle of farm land, but some just but for sale up this summer so I guess there will be houses coming,
we got 10 new peeps 3 from one of our hens and 7 from a chicken auction they were only 2 days old, tried to give them to the mother hen but she did not want any part of them and she is not a good mother, she would kick he babies away from the feeder, we took them away from her. boy is she mad but they are better off, the other mother we had 2 years ago was a good mommy, but she is gone . here are the new ones only born in the night, now they are 2 weeks old. granddaughter is coming to visit tomorrow so she will have fun with them. we now have got down on count to 19 hens and one rooster it was getting to much for hubby to have 60 chickens this summer, he got very sick on me though it was over for him, but he pulled out of it good and all is ok with this amount of chicks as we had no place to sell eggs, daughter comes to get some now as she also moved into a new life here too even found a very nice man she married in feb. and our dogs get an egg a day coats look so nice.
I'm glad your husband recovered. That must have been a scary time. 60 chickens seems like more work than fun. We are limited by a smaller property, so maybe that's a good thing. So easy to just get a few more though, they start out so small.
Enjoy your granddaughter. Wonderful that you have family near.

MC, I hope your birds show up. You have some scary weird neighbors.

Okay... Steven and four girls.
15 -6 procssed = 9
One is a boy.
8+4= 12
I swear I counted 10 girls this evening.
The ducks are all accounted for. One poult is accounted for. One buff bronze is missing. As is the red bronze. The red is thought to be a Tom, the buff is thought to be a Jenny.
To be honest, I could be wrong about the number of
pullets I have/had. I am pretty sure that that was the number I had after processing. I swear I remember saying to Fisherlady that only two birds were unaccounted for. Considering feathers I have found in the past, it is possible that they were taken by a hawk.
