Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I want about 10-12 chickens and a roo but, I don’t know if a roo is allowed where I live. I’m afraid to call because the coop is in the front of the house. Coops are supposed to be set back. I don’t want to draw any attention to my house by calling and asking about chicken laws.
:oops:
It is usually easy to find the ordinances for poultry online. Property in a county usually allows chickens and roosters if it is not a commercial zoned place.

1. go to the county or city website
2. figure our your zoning
3. check the animal rules base on location and zone

Your profile does not tell me where you are in Idaho so I cannot check for you

@ronott1
So.... I found the zones and we are R1 :hmm
We cannot have a rooster. Bummer. Just 2 blocks from being outside city limits. Plus... 10 chickens :rant
Oh No!

How far are you from an agricultural zone?

The black circle is where we live. Across the main road above it is where the city limit ends right behind the red area.

I agree with Ron, maybe your neighbors would not mind a rooster. Unfortunately, it only takes one to complain.

Did you build the coop, or was it already there when you moved in? Maybe the neighbors are used to chickens on that property. And like strong fences, fresh eggs make good neighbors!
