Sometimes you can tell by the size of the eggView attachment 2435529
I said to Duckling on Monday that a pullet can start laying its first winter, but I’ve not had one do that in years. The next morning,I have explained the timeline before, so I’m just going to say that I don’t know if it is a pullet starting, or an adult SPR starting back up since July.
Either way it's great news!View attachment 2435529

I am so happy that you got them!Either way it's great news!
Someone on the N. CA thread has to rehome 6 pullets that are 5 months old. I am taking them. Hoping a couple of them start laying by Feb. I will be lucky to have 2 consistent layers from my old mob, and family has been pressuring me for eggs. Well, I quit laying a long time ago, so this is a perfect solution. Very fortuitous!

Any ideas on the breed of the barred/cuckoo pullet?
