Guess How Many Today

I started painting when i was little, before school, I never really took a formal class, unless I needed a quick a to boost my GPA. I never tried to make a living at it either, although I've sold some stuff, I saved it for retirement, which is now I guess. Art is something you can always enjoy, and great for those times when you're broke and a gift is required. (And I don't give my stuff away easily!)

ACW that is a wonderful gift. Anytime i receive something hand made i feel like crying. it just makes me so happy someone took that time for me.

yeah, she definitely wanted nothing to do with Sirus, even though he was thrilled to see her. she went straight from my hands to the roof, I thought she was going to just hop down... but whoosh! straight to the roof! I'm glad she was easy to coax down, the broom handle worked really well. honestly, I thought she might fly higher up... or that if I was lucky, I might be able to just (gently) knock her off, and she would fly to the top of the portable run... so I was pretty surprised when she just stepped on the handle, she's a smart little bird. Speaking of the portable run, the roof tarps need lots of work before I can move the chicks in. they've become displaced by melted snow that turned to ice. I got all of it off ~ there were some really big and long and thick blocks of ice, one was over 4 feet long, a foot wide, and 3 inches thick. I started to slide it over to the edge, going good... then when I had it halfway off, it broke, and a big slab of ice crashed on my ankle and foot! I'll have a nice bruise, but I didn't break anything, close call tho'... technically, I could throw a tarp right over the top, I have a few that would cover the entire thing, but it would be very dark inside, so it's best to fix the vinyl, it's bright yellow, reflects a brightness inside... have to see what the weekend brings, the bottom will fall out of this nice weather, and sooner than I want!

and you're right... he's trying. I'll try to not be so inflexible... cute emoticon, I like that one a lot!

ugh cheeka! ice is a huge pain, especially on your ankle! Totally beautiful pictures and scenery, and I just love looking at your birds. Someday i hope to be able to share pictures that look so clear lol! I am with you on the valentine thing, well most of us seem to be. I get tired of the hype, and another excuse to spend money. He knows i love him and I know he loves me. I did buy a very nice sirloin to cook him and plan to make all his favorites, meats and sweets, ugh i so worry on him but i just let it go.. I think a handwritten note and his favorite stuff means more. Can't hurt to beef things up if he is worth the effort tho

After my 2nd divorce i kinda gave up on the "efforts" myself, but he still chased me down lol. His little girl was so precious she won me over first, but he was just so hunky and cute i couldn't pass up the date!
With the hoop coops, i am looking into the used highway billboard vinyls. they are UV treated and very heavy like 17 ml. I can do 3 big coops with one sheet for around 100 bucks including the shipping. The grain elevator gets them here and they last for several years. So funny to see the corn mountain grow every fall

Guess How Many Today

hehe, um.. wait...erm 5?

1 goose egg 3 chicken eggs today! So happy with my australorp babies, they are precious. We bought a good paint sprayer and have a ton of spring stuff planned. I need 1 more building, thinking 3 hoop coops. my geese are over the top aggressive since the eggs are being laid, even my favorite WeeWee is getting nippy, she usually gets in my lap. not happening, she won't even let me look in the nest. I have to scoop her out of it and have the heavy welding gloves on now lol! guineas have paired off, and the little cocks are taking my rooster on, had a lot of fights today. I was very close to putting one in the freezer,

he dared to challenge me during feeding time, actually bit my leg. i had my hands on his neck and feet, but Quasey was crying her head off. Ugh silly girl, she picked the mean one. I moved the geese and gave them a pond side view house lol.The scovies and guinea are getting a hoop coop.Neither are laying yet, but the hormones are sure creating problems...
My oldest daughter stopped to get gas and saw a rooster running around the parking lot, guess where he is... Beautiful bird, very mean australorp? i think. he nailed her on the arm, but she caught him, this was right next to the interstate too. So i added 2 roosters this week

I have almost every dog crate full for quarantine, and my lavender orps are n the way. Guess i better get my tools out, need more buildings. And we got our new piglets home! ! Hereford boar, maybe 60 pounds, a tiny Little Berkshire gilt, she is 15 pounds at most. Both are just terrified, Roxy is already snuggling the boar.

wow JCH, you've been very busy! sounds like so much fun!

well.... I really only stopped by briefly to catch up, and to say that this morning, at 6:30, all is still dark, and quiet... I'm tiptoeing through the kitchen to make coffee and I hear it. the feeble effort of a young cockerel's crow. coming from the back room. I must be hearing things. so I made a little noise. another er-er-erhhhhh. that's it! lights come on, I go in... and cockeyed carol has a bunched up comb that is pink. everyone else still has flat. kind of pale yellow, combs. bummer. now I can see some bright red patches appearing on the brown saddle feathers. he can't stay. have a great day everyone! I'll be back tonight!

I really need to get the old double rabbit hutch rebuilt! I had to tear the chicken wire off to make it into an outdoor chicken quarantine. Now I am facing facts, and realizing that I am making another coop. I think I have decided on a design. It will be a small, 4 chicken coop.... Or maybe an 8.

I have to do something! I am picking up my trio on Tuesday, and I have nowhere to put them! It was supposed to be in the 40's today, but last nights snow is still on the ground. There is still chicken wire on the hutch, and I am giving up on getting the little pieces. I will just have to be sure to cover the sharp parts.
I am feeling very antsy today. IDK if I can muster up the patience to work on it.

I hope I am making sense. If not, ignore this post.

I wouldn't worry about it. Roger could crow too if she thought roosters got fed more or at a different time than hens.
