Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

hey W4W, try curcurbits for worming, foods with seeds like gourds, pumpkin, melon, squash and cucumber, are safe and natural wormers, then you don't have to avoid eating the eggs...

to the meatsicle eating barbarians! I amaze myself with how graceless I can be when no one is looking...
I've been trying the pumpkin, but there's no difference. From what I've read, these things along with red pepper flakes are better for prevention. The girls had a feast of earthworms a couple of months ago, and I did not know that earthworms are a vector for parasitic worms, so I probably infected mah behbies! They are losing weight and are laying less, only 3 today

, so I'm leaning strongly toward treatment before the worm load gets worse, and then will be more diligent with my prevention. The chickens and dogs can eat the eggs with the stuff I'm going to use. In fact, it's probably okay for people, but we won't.

I did not think you were graceless! You just have good company in the barbarian department.

garlic in the water and onion flakes in the feed. Also, have a second water and put apple-cider vinegar in the water.

Going to tun out and grab a second broody tote, think i am gonna need it! Sounds like great news ACW! Dr Office is way better than a hospital room. Its been crazy busy here. We are being Annexed by the next town..... So I WILL be attending the meetings.

I am hearing statements at the feed store like, "animal unit per acre" and 3 of my neighbors raise tons of cows! I had an opportunity to rehome my 2 Alpaca boys. Looks like that will need to happen. from what i read on that towns ordinance I can't get cows with them here. Overall, most of the neighbors in the "vinyl village" community are ageeing with the annexation, they will get a new grade school out of the deal. Ugh, here we go....

I started painting when i was little, before school, I never really took a formal class, unless I needed a quick a to boost my GPA. I never tried to make a living at it either, although I've sold some stuff, I saved it for retirement, which is now I guess. Art is something you can always enjoy, and great for those times when you're broke and a gift is required. (And I don't give my stuff away easily!)

what a day! 40, sunny, no wind... home early, doesn't get much better in February... the gang was hesitant to come outside, but they enjoyed a couple of hours of free range. I have pictures, but...
first, a couple of pictures from the other day that I never got downloaded on the desktop because the monitor is a dud... can't crop and stuff on this computer, no program for it...

I was too slow to get the camera powered up to catch her while she was looking at me, but I caught her before she disappeared...

and now for the chicken escapades... Isis and Wilma came right out, Wilma looks the best of the girls, everyone else is ratty from molting and mating... Wilma has some mating marking, but she's pretty fluffy

Wilma went back in to tell everyone to come outside, they all looked at her like she was nuts

Sunshine and Safflower seeds over here!

ahhhhhh

I SAID SUNSHINE AND SEEDS!!!! where is everyone?

I sneaked inside for the seeds, and Peach was up and about, thought she might like a few minutes of grass... I was wrong.

I had to take the push broom outside and raise the handle to her, she perched so I could take her down...

there's a panel out of the garage door so the cats can take shelter inside... a cottontail has taken up residence. s/he made a mess of my straw bale so s/he could make a nest.

she was very relieved to be back on her eggs.

so that was a very nice afternoon. I was very tempted to bring the chicks outside. but I didn't want too much confusion. first, they've never been outside yet... they'd probably stay huddled, but if one of the bigger gang gave chase... I didn't want to lose any. if I had my friends come up... it would have been more feasible, I hope Sunday is nice out, I can do it then.

So, tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I'm not a romantic. I kinda forgot. I didn't get a card or anything for him... and I have a long day tomorrow, and doing 2 routes on Friday. he wants to fix me a nice dinner... I suggested we put it off until at least Friday, as I have a short day on Saturday and I'm off on Sunday... Saturday would be the best... he seems let down. it's just a day... it would be just as delicious a dinner on Friday or Saturday... I'm pretty stubborn about socializing on work nights (yeah, I know... that's every night...) but as a rule, on nights before a big day, I'm sleeping by 9:30.

now for one more...

TWELVE EGGS!!
yippiechickie.gif
(x 12) the only one that I know is from today, is the green speckled egg in the upper left corner (Blu's egg, something went amiss with the brown coating), I'm quite certain that Isis' blue egg is from today. the rest...? either today or from the day I thought I had zero. I found a new nest in the store bought coop, in the main area, not the nesting box. 4 eggs in there, all RIR... 6 eggs in the apple coop, and one BR egg (of course...lol) in the dust bath. the final 12th egg came during free range. Blu and Archie went back together, he sang to her while she laid her egg, then he crowed like he laid it...

Great pictures Cheeka. Everybody looks good. So nice for them to be able to get out and soak up some sunshine. Peach is a little stinker, flying up on the roof like that. Maybe she was trying to get back into the house! Antisocial broody!

Is Valentine's day tomorrow? gulp We don't usually make too much of a fuss over that one. Around here, every day is Valentine's Day!

Well, we try. At least your beau is trying. Could be worse....

yeah, she definitely wanted nothing to do with Sirus, even though he was thrilled to see her. she went straight from my hands to the roof, I thought she was going to just hop down... but whoosh! straight to the roof! I'm glad she was easy to coax down, the broom handle worked really well. honestly, I thought she might fly higher up... or that if I was lucky, I might be able to just (gently) knock her off, and she would fly to the top of the portable run... so I was pretty surprised when she just stepped on the handle, she's a smart little bird. Speaking of the portable run, the roof tarps need lots of work before I can move the chicks in. they've become displaced by melted snow that turned to ice. I got all of it off ~ there were some really big and long and thick blocks of ice, one was over 4 feet long, a foot wide, and 3 inches thick. I started to slide it over to the edge, going good... then when I had it halfway off, it broke, and a big slab of ice crashed on my ankle and foot! I'll have a nice bruise, but I didn't break anything, close call tho'... technically, I could throw a tarp right over the top, I have a few that would cover the entire thing, but it would be very dark inside, so it's best to fix the vinyl, it's bright yellow, reflects a brightness inside... have to see what the weekend brings, the bottom will fall out of this nice weather, and sooner than I want!

and you're right... he's trying. I'll try to not be so inflexible... cute emoticon, I like that one a lot
