Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

This is my girl who got so sick. She's been back with the flock over a moth. I fInd her sleeping a lot , but I do see her eating. She is still skinny though. And she has darted roosting off by herself.

Is she not going to ever fully recover? She also hasnt sharted laying again either.

I found Violet sitting on all of today's 14 eggs... she growled and screeched when I took them. she did get up and eat, but hustled back to the nest... looks like I might have another broody... I will see how things go over the next couple of days... and if she is broody... I'll put some eggs under her.

I would normally say congratulations. Now I think I should say I am sorry!

How many eggs are you going to give her? Do you want some of my chicks?

I managed to clear 2 of the nest boxes out of the right side of the coop, and shut the center door. Baby and her chicks (Marshmallow, Nutmeg and Pepper) are still in there. I can't find a good way to catch the Leghorns and bantams during the day. Very annoying. I moved the coop, and they have already ruined the fresh grass I exposed for Baby.
Anyway! Hope everyone had a good day!

I have no fertile eggs at this time... so it's either take time to fertilize some, buy some or just get some chicks... lets see if she stays on the nest tomorrow. I'd take chicks in a heartbeat... I have no white egg layers...

the pics won't load, but I got the corrugated roofing panels, and got them up on the bachelor pen. it's been looking stormy all day, but of course, hasn't rained a DROP... and because of the new roof... it probably won't rain again.

How long have the boys been separated from the main group? The hens stay fertile for up to 3 weeks after, well, you know what. What breed is Violet? After my discouragement program, I am officially broody-free. The skinny girl is putting on weight and looking good, but no eggs yet.

Sounds like she is still struggling. Did you try vitamins/electrolytes for her? She may need the boost, and I wouldn't expect any eggs until she puts the weight back on.

the boys have been out for 6 weeks. I could put a couple of hens in and collect their eggs, but that takes time... Violet is a RIR, big girl too, she had almost all 14 completely hidden.

So I have been breaking out in hives all week. Tonight I felt like my throat may be closing, so I called my MIL to come down in case I needed to go to the hospital while my husband is at work. I have never had an allergic reaction before, and I have no idea what is causing it, but I have it narrowed down to strawberries, tomatoes, chocolate or...eggs. None of those are really acceptable for me to be allergic to. I am NOT happy. I have taken a Benedryl, which means I feel like crap and I refuse to nurse my child while taking this stuff so everything just got even more complicated around here. Yuck.

hives are the pits... and they usually are food allergy related, or medication... and since you're nursing... that's out... or soap...? new laundry detergent or anything?

Sorry to hear about the hives, saraki. Sounds kind of scary. I agree that allergies to those particular foods would be unacceptable! (Not chocolate!!

) Odd to have it start in adulthood with foods I'm sure you've had before. Could it possibly be hormone related? Or you got bit by something and didn't feel it? You going to see a doctor? Hope things get better soon.
