Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Apparently, Francisco doesn't recognize me all dressed up...he was really trying to check me out when we got home from daughter's oorientation....silly bird, go back to stalking your girls!
Were you wearing heels? Perhaps he has a shoe fetish!

All three babies, and five eggs. Only one should be there. The Golden Buff is getting on my nerves. I am really hoping Baby gets these babies out of the box, and onto the floor tomorrow.

I love this picture.

MC, they are adorable!!!!!!! great pics! so cool,

RR, my gang acts like they've been invaded by an alien if I don't have my hair braided or at least pulled back. maybe because you were dressed up... he thought you were some fancy plumed new lady for him to woo... lol

There's no telling with that loon in roo's clothing. He's the first to come running when he hears my voice...but I had to watch His Craziness closely...it was probably the bright, breezy shirt, sandles and jewelry. I usually look like a hobo when I keep his company so as not to steal his flashy thunder (at least that is my current excuse)

When I started following this thread, like OK, I was waiting for my group of girls to start laying. Hardly fair that the rooster started to crow so early, now it seems like we should change the title to, "should I but chicks, or wait it out." S many of us hatching. I have chicks due tomorrow morning. Keep running to the bedroom to look for chicks or pips or zips...

Hi all!

Hi all! I've been reading this thread for the past week or so, and it has been greatly entertaining! I've enjoyed it tremendously and learned a lot to boot. I have been dealing with a grumpy husband, teething toddler and a very colicky baby. I needed the laughs. I had a few thoughts.
1. I watch the Bigfoot shows too. I like to make fun of the people on them in spite of the fact that I have seen a Bigfoot, or at least something that I cannot explain any other way.
2. Trying out the ff tonight for the first time. I am very nervous that I am going to go out to dead birds in the morning, for some reason.
3. I am very close to Jc geographically. I was hoping to find a better place to buy geese next spring than Rural King, and it sounds like I may have found it. I would love to buy some from you when I am ready for more babies.
4. Cheeka, I am so glad you didn't end up with old BH. He sounds like a real...well...
5. I have had possibly the best chicken math ever. I bought 10 light Brahmans and 10 SLW from Rural King the day before Easter. That day we swung by Orshelens and they had EE chicks. My husband made the wry comment that six more wouldn't make a difference, so in the brooding room they went. The EEs were pullets, the rest were straight run. I have ended up with two roos-a SLW and a Brahma. Haven't lost a bird yet.
5. My husband was not keen on this crazy chicken idea I had, but be has been the one naming them and getting attached. They have even tricked him into building them a fancy schmancy coop which is currently at a standstill due to farming and work.
6. I was condsidering BRs. Now I am not.
7. You all gave me the hatching bug. Thanks a lot.
8. I have now planted extra pumpkins and watermelons solely to use as pies.
9. Our house/barn was previously outfitted for someone to grow large amounts of marijuana in. The insulated partitioned and secure grow rooms have been really handy for brooding chicks, which is one reason I can't wait to hatch some of my own next spring...

saraki! glad you joined us! and happy that we've provided good entertainment along with a few helpful bits.... but really... you shouldn't let us discourage you from the having a BR experience! everyone should be plotted against blessed by the monsters little darlings attentions...
a chick brooding area sounds like the very best alternative for those rooms in your barn! next Spring should be extremely fun!
most of my garden has been given over as well... to grow the kinds of things the chickens prefer in their pie... just love those little knuckleheads...!

Mylee is up at last! she stayed up pretty late last night... so we are out to feed the cluck clucks!

Try a damp washcloth in the freezer. It is great for teething. If you don't know, put the colicky baby face down on your left arm with your palm on her(?) stomach. Then rub or pat her back. It hasn't failed my family yet.
Get a BR. Roger is not the norm. The one you see in my recent pictures never growled at me for reaching under her. She only made any noise when the chicks were out. No pecking though.
BR are normally super sweet and cuddly.
There is nothing wrong with chicken math! Well... Okay, I do need yet another coop (I have 5 coops, and 2 brooders) or to sell chicks.

To all! Baby has her 3 chicks out eating. IDK what happened to her 4th. The 5 eggs went under Beth, who growled at me the whole time.

for colic, rub in a clockwise direction on the tummy, counterclockwise on the back. go in the direction of the flow of food... those acute angles of our intestines can be difficult navigation for little ones... Mylee is throwing her pillow downstairs... she wants me... it's nap time...

Yay! More chicks. How many eggs in the incubator and what breed(s)? Hope you're going to share some pics when they hatch.

Cheeka I've been imagining Mylee with the chickens all week. You guys must be having a blast! Hope the rain storms haven't been too terrible for you. Do you remember a couple of months ago, when you still had snow and wished for my green grass? Well, the grass is now brown and crunchy. No more green for the girls except for what I give them. I have rain envy.

MC, those 3 little chicks of Baby's are adorable. One of each color! Maybe Beth won't be so grumpy after the chicks hatch. I remember being really grumpy before my two boys hatched!

OK, hope you are getting some serious overtime!
