Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

"Olive was all puffed up standing in the nest area when I went out first thing ~ so I stuck my hand out and she laid a perfect egg right in my palm. about an hour later, I got Peach to do the same thing."

So what's the secret cheeka......when I put my hand under Roger like that she poops in my hand.

Found a broody. Cochin bantam known for being very broody, and started going broody a few days ago. Picking her her up this week.

What do I need to know??

What are the odds of transporting her breaking the broodyness? Should I buy eggs and take them to her, then pick up everyone in a month? If it does break her broodyness, how long before she feels broody again?
Putting her in a new environment might break her from being broody. But if she is known for being broody I bet she will get right back to it when she settles in. You will know when she is broody because she won't get off of that nest for anything until she absolutely has to. They act like they are in a daze while sitting on the nest. She will growl at you when you get near her eggs. Just give her something to sit on and wait for her to show you she is serious.

Long busy day, Put down dry grass inside and out of all the pens, everything was a muddy mess. pigs didn't seem to mind it! all 3 of them are black from rolling in it! Still have more rain forecast the next several days. Goats will barely leave their lil barn. they hate being wet! time is getting close to processing the BBW turkeys, they look like dinosaurs when they run at you, just hilarious! Looks like I get my Royal Palm pair a week from today, still working on the cattle fence. I do see the prices dropping fast on calves, pretty happy about that!
Got 3 duck eggs, 2 guinea eggs, 14 chicken eggs today for a total of 19!

I ended yesterday with 10 eggs total. it was so humid and stormy with no free range, so most of the girls took the day off. can't say I blame them at all...

we overslept a little this morning, we were supposed to get up at 4:00 am at the latest... and I woke up at almost 4:30! it was a little rushed, but we made it out the door on time and I got them to the airport. I got a text that they were boarded and all was well... I could only cry. I miss them. the plan is for me to go to Albuquerque in October for the balloon festival. I want to move there. I hate being so far away from all my family. I'm one of the last hold-outs who hasn't moved west yet... there's just my daughter and her family in Boston, and my brother and his family in Manhattan... and my daughter is wanting to move soon too... probably to Oregon, either that or back to the small north central Massachusetts town where she was raised. can you imagine the sight of me trying to move my flock across country? I would do it too...

I only risk it when they are actually in the nest... I've caught 5 eggs so far. so cool

LMC ~ how old are your hens? are they hens or pullets? the younger they are the more inconsistently they will lay , it takes a while to get the flow going...

I have 8 eggs already, a few of my girls have made the flip to morning, which is really why i had so few eggs yesterday. I sold 3 dozen yesterday and 3 dozen today. I'm down to 1 dozen, plus whatever I get today... which is really great, my rotation is quick, I don't have to worry about "old" eggs

when is W4W due back? Mylee left successfully this morning. she should have landed in NM about 15 minutes ago. I was very distracted all morning by the fact that she really has gone home.
