Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

alright then, I have 2 nest boxes built into the store bought coop, and one separate tractor supply store nest box, with 6 large fowl and 1 bantam, i am probably all set... back on Long Island when I had the dozen chickens... they primarily used four of the six boxes... so until I get more hens... i won't need more... but next year... who knows what will come my way...???

So remember my friend, word out his brother wants someone to take his chickens, will know more in a day or two. Chicken math strikes again. Oh and so much for my new rooster...he is soup. I caught him bashing one of the hens. I called them all over for scratch and tackled him, after smacking his head on the ground a few times I asked all the chickens if they wanted to take a turn, a few came close but nobody would. H says just pen him up and see if he settles down but he will get no pardon from me. And no second chance. Its for the best I guess. Stick with the games, at least its just roos fighting roos there.

during "range" time, it's not exactly free range, so... 'Si wandered into the Chicken Dome and was cheerily exploring when Royce noticed him... in true Raptor fashion, he "stomp-ran" in and laid claim to his domain, he cornered 'Si in the nesting box in the coop, I had to pull him out by his tail feathers to get him off. I locked him in the portable run til things calmed down and 'Si came out. Once outside again, I released Royce to see what might happen. He didn't pay him any attention at all. So, it's fine, they can live separately, as long as they are peaceful during range time... it is Royce's "house" after all... but he will have to deal with me taking Blu and Isis away regularly so they can get to know them. Next Spring, the 2 new boys will be the main breeders. Sorry Royce, but you have no beard, muffs or tufts...

So you going to eat him? I haven't had any serious enough problems to consider eating "Roger and Dumplins" for dinner.
 
So whats going on with chickens today. My other BR (not Roger) is roosting in the nest box. Never done that before. She is the lowest in the pecking order and gets picked on a lot. Guess I will know more in the morning
 
Peaches, the new "hen" hasn't laid an egg for me yet, but she is a bantam, so they will be wee things. I still haven't asked how old she is... I'll get to sending a message later... my BR's seem to me to be very very close, any day within the next 10 days... lol, the RIR's don't seem at all ready, and the EE;s are squatting, but I know it's trickery!

Wow...I would have bet that you would have had at least one egg by now. It WILL happen. Hang in there.
