Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I have got to get video of my Lucy running at treat time...It cracks me up everytime. She 'runs' at me but somehow waddles...she is the biggest one of my bunch. Everyone who comes over can't believe how they come running to me the minute I open the door. If I open the upper deck door they run over to the balcony I toss them kitchen scraps from. If my husband comes through the back gate they follow him around like he is their leader ...or dealer

All kidding aside, I have to agree with Sally's dad about the looks of the BRs. And my Spot had the best disposition in the flock... although she is a little chatty. Well, a lot chatty actually. Follows me around like a dog, squawking and caterwallin' and complaining and telling me what to do. Okay, well, never mind. I tried.

Oh, I dunno what breed she is and I got her as an adult. Well, she does like it a bit when I set her on my lap and give her chicken feed and stroke her back gently.

If she sits in your lap to eat and get pet then that's great.  Does she have any chicken friends?

I am waiting patiently for my EE ti start laying

How do you do the patiently part?  :D   Hoping for a blue egg for you!!!

cheeka, somehow I missed that you are hatching bearded silkies.  Silkies?!!?  Now I don't feel so bad having the Seramas.  They're really more like pseudo-chickens!  :cd

Can't be anything but patient. I just hope it happens SOON!!!

Finally, it's time to meet the new Serama girls. The 2 on the left are full sisters, as are the 2 on the right, different sets of parents.
So without further ado, presented from right to left, are the girls.

This is Sister, the escape artist. Very curious about everything. She's on the right above.

Fanny is Sister's sister. She is the largest, but has the best fanned tail, hence the name. Likes to spar and push her weight around. Either Fanny or her Sister will be the dominant hen.

The next one doesn't have a name yet. Maybe Fudge, but we'll have to see what she's like. Hoping her lacing will become more prominent. Very calm and sweet. To my completely inexperienced eye, she is the best of the bunch all around, although she did not take good pics. I think she was distracted by the fact that I was grilling chicken dinner on the patio during the photo session.

Far left is the smallest, Penelope... as in Perils of Penelope because she is always shrieking for help when taken away from the others. Really love her color and she should lighten up considerably.

A former guinea pig cage is home until they get bigger. Mustacheio and I are ready to build a ground cage tomorrow so they have room to run around and dig in the dirt.

Pretty. Love the feathering, the color on the lighter ones should be interesting to observe. Keep us posted. Chirp

thats just scary! My Mabel gets that look too.

Holy Poof! I just signed in and see I have a ton of catching up to do. Spent the weekend with some friends over for a birthday. Everyone loves the chicks...even non "chicken" people love them. They are living outside now. We tried adoption...

Ended up having to take them away as the 'mama' started chasing the little black one around and pecking it and trying to scratch it. So now they are hanging in their new digs alone. I hooked up the brinsea for the nights but basically they ignore it and just play in the hay and all over the place. My husband gave them a big box in there...I swear they play fort. The big chickens like to come over and chatter to them. I wish I could let one of the girls adopt them but as this was my only chance and seeing how mean she was....I am nervous. I might just let them sit on the eggs next time. Speaking of next time I am ordering more eggs

Hope everyone is swell!

Will check in more this week with updated pictures....feathering is so fast this time around!
I am still afraid to let them hatch on their own. I need a broody house like OK made!

Well, my little chick is turning out to be very friendly. It gets out a lot, and its a little bantam. I am praying it's a female, I'd hate to ever have to give it away. But like I said, it gets out a lot, I'm not too sure how. I think it follows mama then cant get back up the ramp so it goes out of the run to keep from being picked on and cheeps really loud. Well tonight, it didn't get into the house with mama and I went to find it. It wasn't cheeping, so I started clicking with my tongue and it ran out of the bushes and waited at my feet to be picked up!
