Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Remember that little ear flap, the color usually corresponds to the color of the egg. But always an exception to the rule, my black hens lay olive color eggs. I had one with a little tan ear flap and her eggs were exactly a matched tan color. It's an easy way to tell who laid what egg, unless your hens are all the same color. Speaking of feather color, anybody collecting those pretty feathers? Just wondering for some feedback since I have a tacklebox full of them and thinking of making ornaments. For years I've kept an osprey feather hanging on the rear view and thinking it would be neat to make some dangles, naturally with some of those deerskin scraps (I have a bushel full) and beads and such. There will be alot of indoor time with winter coming...I just think they are like seashells, each one is interesting, and some ae just fascinating to me...and of course I have most of captains tail when a wolf tore it off. Any comments/suggestions?

I am collecting feathers. I know a woman married to an Indian. She is really into his heritage, and makes fans and dream catchers.

I forgot the raisins! It is so cold out there, I knew I NEEDED to make oatmeal for the chickens. I put fresh pumpkin in it (well, they can't eat it plain!

), and brought it out. I came back inside, and saw the raisins on the counter.

How could I forget something so important?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They will find a way to punish you. Mine would

They didn't like the oatmeal. Or the pumpkin. Maybe they were full? I brought out three bowls (about three cups each) and only one was picked clean. I see a chicken or two picking at the other two bowls. I guess they were full. They wouldn't keep picking at something that they don't like, right? Are they just mad about the raisins?

Why do I care? They are chickens.

But they are my babies!

Who eats plain oatmeal? You should be happy they ate any of it. I think you should go out and feed the raisons to them by hand..one by one. That would be your punishment. (Haha..just kidding...but it would be fun)

I thought about that. I guess I will go right now. I hope to find more eggs too. I am okay with lower egg production, but DH is going to KILL me if I ask to go back to TSC for more feed already, and I don't have a fridge full of eggs. Especially with the apples, raisins, lettuce, cabbage, assorted vegetables, yogurt, watermelon, etc. I am buying them.
I need a bigger garden next year. That and I need better seeds. I have vines and flowers, but never got a single pumpkin, let alone a 100# one (that is what the seeds were for).
