Are Rolo and Eminem really that much smaller than the rest, or just the pics? Other than Roger2, they are automatically my faves because they are the underdogs.

We got 7 eggs yesterday, but only 4 today. Foggy, dark and drizzly here. Not eggey weather, although the rain will stop for the foreseeable future and we will get some sun and dry out a bit. Don't think I've ever had a perfect egg day. It would be 9 now that Grace is laying. No complaints, mind you, the 'frige is pretty full.

What exactly are you guys fermenting? My feed store has some whole grains, but not a huge selection. Are you making a mix? What about them getting enough protein?

it's more of a joke, I can't keep them all straight yet... but I know which one Roche is... and the yellow ones... the 2 that are Rolo and Eminem are weeny.

I'm just fermenting the layer mash that I got "stuck" buying because the store was out of crumbles and pellets, the next nearest place is 20 miles away... and it was so easily wasted...it was driving me crazy... but not anymore... this last batch, I put in BOSS. you can ferment anything, whole, rolled, cracked, ground... grains, seeds, fruits...

W4W you gotta try this! I ferment the actual feed, and scratch. I do a 3:1 mix on it. FF will increase the absorption of the nutritional value of the feed. It also gives them good probotics for their digestive tract. Less odor in the poop..They look and feel very healthy. the food waste is almost nil. My birds, even the ducks, won't eat the dry feed anymore... i get a huge stinkeye and they walk away. It also cuts the feed bill way down, they are eating less because their body absorbs more of the nutrient value. Less water intake since its already moistened. I started with a bottle of unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, a bag of scratch, a bag of layer feed, and a few buckets. I feed all my livestock and my barn cats FF now. The dogs next LOL!

Ah! The joys of new peeps!
Thismorning I was straining my first batch of fermented feed, still wondering if I should try it with the dog too. I put down the fist bowl of feed, and started filling the second. The dog came over, and gave it a sniff. Then a taste. Then he was chowing down! I always did say that dog is a chicken.

Hehe! MC i already FF the barn cats food, going to try the dog next. She is a "chug" part Chihuahua part Pug. And eats everything LOL! Its so good for them, i am flat sold on it.

Very cute little dog and pretty young lady! I'm thinking this fermented food thing might work for my dad. Better food absorption, nutrient value, easier digestion and less smell... sounds perfect!

Well seriously, he complains that he cannot digest starch anymore. Fermented baked potatoes! Mmmmm......
