Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I'm disgusted.....I'm gonna buy some eggs.

TRY PIE

So this is a bad time to say that as of 8:30 I have 5 eggs? Okay. I won't tell.
I strongly recommend you try a pie. Pie (if you didn't read back far enough) is the answer to everything. Watermelon topped with toast, worms

and maybe a yogurt beard and hair is a good start. I am thinking yogurt and worms are the best to get 'em started.

hi lahowardjr! you do know... that the day you venture out and spend $$ on yucky store bought eggs, your girls will start laying... s'what happened to me, then those store bought eggs sat in the fridge til they were just about out of date... then I scrambled them up and put them in a Pie... and fed them all to the chickens...

W4W... my birds are soooo jealous! we still have 2 feet of snow. I tromped through it, twice, to get loads of fresh hay, filled both coops, nests and spread a bunch around in the dome... but it's about 37 today, so we are getting some melting, which will turn to ice tonight... hope I can get the dome door open in the morning! (actually, i scooped out some earth in front of the door to make that chore easier...) as much as I cannot stand the heat, I'm getting too old to shift so much snow... on the second trip back from the garage, and closing the door, a cotton tail came darting out... one of the panels is gone from the door, so my cats can get in the garage in bad weather when they are stuck outside, guess the bunny thinks it's a good place too!

I have a load of new pics to download and upload... the chicks, the deer in the backyard... I'll try to get it all done before it gets late... housework now, yuck! but it's gotta get done...

as I kind of figured as I took them through the window, double pane... and even a lot of the chick pics are blurry, because they are always moving... but I picked the best...

Chicks are such monsters spilling their food, I gave them a feed crate. they can enter from the live-in crate, I spun it so I could take a few blurry pictures...

the live-in crate is lined with feed bags, I ran out of cardboard... and if I leave any door open, they leave, so when spun apart to show new perchers, had to have the door closed... the ones on the piece of cardboard are waiting to get back in to eat... but perching lessons have begun and they are quick learners!

they are at the beginning of that awkward stage... when most folks don't think they are too cute anymore... they are not interested in being held, not a one of them... very different from the original gang... and they are highly active...hence, not too many individual shots as they are freakin' blurry...

Hey Cheeka, that deer looks COLD. The ones around here don't get anywhere near as thick a coat as that. The chicks are looking good. Did little IttyBit catch up with the others yet? The fact that none are overly friendly might be a positive indicator for girls. Seems like it's usually the cockerels that are friendly.

My wife finally let me take down the Christmas lights on the house and put my coop lights back on the timer. We'll see if the supplemental light ( 0500 - 0800 hrs) in the mornings will get my hens a-going again. I hope to not buy another dozen eggs.
