Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I am telling Sally that you said that! Okay, I am not. I will just think about it every time I talk to her.
I did read it. I guess she has been adding to it as she has mishaps herself.
One of the main posters on my local thread recommended Sally's thread as a good way to learn all you need to know (and more!) about incubating. I read her comments on a different thread that is interesting about a fellow establishing a flock in the Philippines. She seems cheerfully chatty so I imagine the pages add up quickly!

we only got about 7.5 inches with the wind taking lots of it elsewhere (like smack up against the apple coop, waist deep gathering eggs this morning) I had 2 more eggs last night, and 3 this morning. I put the one solitary egg under Peach yesterday morning, she has it fully hidden, and has made the nest all nice again. she pushed all the straw out from under her and was on the crate tray for a couple of days... I put some shavings on the empty spot and she bokked her protest vehemently and loudly, and then went back in and kicked it all out. but she fixed it up right comfy. I know she should have more than one egg, but I didn't have any other small room temperature eggs... I should have stuck 2 more under her this morning... oh well... it's an experiment anyway. she is my first broody that I know what it means... I'll go get more eggs for her in a few minutes. they'll be a full day and a half behind the first one, she might leave the other eggs behind? once the first one hatches? if it hatches? I've done just a small amount of reading about hatching. she seems (so far) to be a happy broody. I can pet her anytime, she doesn't peck, even if she does growl. and her mood has certainly improved now that she has an egg. she is eating more and drinking more. she makes at least two enormous poops for me as well... had me worried, she wasn't pooping very much at all but otherwise seemed perfectly healthy. I'll stick the other eggs under her either way... 2 more.

so plowing was fun this morning... wind blowing it right back at me, but I was in full gear, no skin showing, no gaps for the snow to creep in, and the young neighbor's dad came over and scooped out the end of the driveway for me, which was awesome. The plow had pushed quite a pile over the night. there were lots big drifts, but plenty of sections with virtually no snow at all. got the wrap-around driveway open before it was time to go. the mail was 40 minutes late, but I didn't have but a few hundred pieces all together so the counting went quickly. 9 families were inaccessible because the plow dumped so much snow in front of the box or outright knocked it down. not bad, considering... I was home fairly early, finally put together the new smoker my little brother gave to me for my birthday in 2011

naw... it is that old, still new in the box... but I had an old one that I just couldn't relinquish til I burned the bottom right out of it! the new one is perty nice... I want 2 more side racks to hold 2 more cooking racks, and it will be great for making jerky. with only 2 cooking racks, it's best for larger meats, like turkey or a few chickens, or a big block of cheese on the top, and spices and popcorn on the bottom.

the monitor on my desktop died this morning. not sure what the problem is, but it does have current, and it does turn on for one second, then shuts off. not sure if it's the monitor or the cables. will test it all later. I do have another monitor if that's the problem, if it's the cable(s), I have to make a trip to the store, so I would wait til tomorrow, working in the city makes for an easy stop at an electronics store. I really hope it's an easy fix for this monitor, it's a 32" flat screen... so awesome and large. would hate to go back to the 17"... right now, I'm on my laptop, haven't used it for ages, it was all dusty... dog hair in the keys...

off to get eggs for Peach!

I gave Peach 2 more eggs, she growled, so I assume that she's happy about it.

well, it's my monitor that's the problem. I hope it's not too much difficulty to fix it. I'm still on the laptop, and haven't uploaded any photos, bc I don't have the Olympus program on here, and frankly, I'm spoiled by it.

work early tomorrow, way past my bedtime already! goodnight!
