Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

technically she is correct, with the exception of live deliveries. depending on what time the mail arrives... which would be way before the customer window opens... it doesn't hurt to give a call in the morning around 7:30. at least let them know that you have chicks coming. it is likely that the Post Master or the clerk will call you as soon as they know the chicks are there. honestly, we (the USPS) want them delivered asap. your mom wants you to be patient, which is a good lesson... but it is likely that you can pick them up before the window opens.

This is my BR, Mo. I think she has been talking to "the hen that shall not be named". She refuses to lay. She chases the 50lb hound dog. And eats my toes!

This picture does look a lot like you-know-who!

ok, thank for letting me know! Dad called them a few days ago, so they know they're coming. Well, I'd better try to get to sleep. Night!

My post office doesn't open till 8:30, and, according to mom, they don't let anyone in for anything until then.

I was able to get the lavenders at 6am, but the lady that was working that day is terrified of birds

She started calling around 5am letting me know they were there. She had me knock at the back door, and was waiting with chicks in one had, pen and form in the other.

. My dad will be home today from the mountains. He has been riding four wheelers in eastern Ky. He was looking for a Mercedes with a load of chickens in it in the mountains.(ACW). Just wanted to give you all a update. How you like my picture?
Roger, your dad must be very relieved to be able to leave you in charge while he is having some fun and searching for wayward Mercedes. Your picture is lovely.

Hi Roger! I'm only half Barred Rock, so my name is Pebble. Tell your Dad we say bagawk!

I'm getting error messages... and it took forever for this one to load... I'll clear my cache... and try again later! (anyone else think Pebble is a boy?)
Oooh, so sweet! So boy. I know lots of folks who keep bachelor pens without any trouble. Well, if there's trouble it becomes dinner!

Ahh!! I'm too excited to sleep! And I feel like I'm forgetting something. Let's see I have heat lamp, feed, water, bedding, bedding cover brooder, brooder cover; am I forgetting anything?
Sounds like you've got everything ready. So exciting! Can't wait to see your pics!

Those BRs sure do see to have the big personality. My girl Spot is not the best layer either, but doing better this spring. She is the only one that the boys can just go pick up, the other hens are quite suspicious of them, so she's a big favorite here.

Pretty color. What is his name? Breed? What are you going to do with him? Besides snuggles.

He is my breeding buck to be. Been looking into this breed for about 3 years, got real serious about them last year. He is not named yet, but is an Oberhasli. They are related to the swiss alpine, tad bit smaller and hardier. His Mom is at 146 pounds. Gentle and friendly breed, tethers well. Not crazy about horns, but all but one of my goats have had them. I had one little buckling dehorned several years ago, wound up losing him from infection, never again. You have to learn to respect the head and horns, where they are and what horns can do. I want to give him a few weeks with us before I pick up my first doe, she is almost 9 months old. Looking for completely unrelated bloodlines, its difficult, since so few have this breed, and most are not selling the doelings but keeping for milkers.. I am looking out of state for my 2rd doe, most of what I found here are distantly related.

Haha! Even more reason for you to come visit me in Ca. There are 2 Oberhasli breeders within an hour of my place and an easy day trip to get to a couple of others. Goats are quite popular out here. Lots of fancy cheeeeeese being produced. Are you going to breed to sell, or for milking or for cheeeeese?
