Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Haha! Even more reason for you to come visit me in Ca. There are 2 Oberhasli breeders within an hour of my place and an easy day trip to get to a couple of others. Goats are quite popular out here. Lots of fancy cheeeeeese being produced. Are you going to breed to sell, or for milking or for cheeeeese?

hehe all the above, I want the milk and cheese! the bucklings will be sold or wethered. Can't quite get past the idea of eating goat yet.... I know its like deer. Like a mental block for me, same for geese. I sure will eat some chicken anytime I can! This little buck will also be weed control when we don't need to breed him. Its time to have a few again, been way too long with out them. We chose his name, Bo. short for Bocephus. DH loves Hank JR!
I really want to go out there, its just horribly expensive... someday

Sorry for any alarm. Had a very busy week last week at work getting ready for the playtime in the mountains. Broody is sitting tight on her eggs. Thursday night will be two weeks since she got the fertile eggs. I will surely be in touch more as the "Due Date" gets closer. I will need all of you chicken momma's holding my hand.

Congrats AL on the new arrivals. Jchny 2000 that is a cool goat. Must admit I would like to have goats too. No fencing so thats on hold. Lots of catching up to do so I have not read everything. Missed my friends. No ACW found. I was a little far south of West Virginia but the same mountains. Probably make the WV trip later this year. Hatfield/ McCoy trail system in WV is a great trip. ACW doesn't live remote enough that we can't find her on our mountain machines lol. You hear that BIG FOOT? FREE OUR ACW...NOW!!!!

Sounds like a cool trip and glad Ms. Broody is still glued to her eggs.

Hey, do you really think you can find her? That would be something.

I"M SO HAPPY!!!!! The post office called at 7:08 this morning, saying that the chicks were ready! They are all alive, but one isn't doing to good. It's just sleeping, and when I pick it up, it shakes its head. Pics of them coming!!

Congratulations!!!!

The chicks are really cute! I especially like the silvery-grey ones. How's the weaker one doing? Sometimes a little bit of sugar water will perk up a weak chick enough to get it to eat. Keep an eye on that one and make sure it eats and drinks.

Edited: You posted about the weak one while I was typing. So sorry she died.

I was thinking that you were really lucky that they all arrived in such good shape. Sometimes, no matter what you do, there are those that just aren't meant to make it.
