Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Sally, great news about the job! nothing better in today's economy than knowing that income is still going to flow, and the family will be able to be together.

Wow...17 eggs. I remember wondering if you were going to ever get your first egg. Saturday is the big day here. Why?......because it was one year ago Saturday that I got my first chickens. Remember it well because the first Saturday in May in Kentucky is "Derby Day". And also the broodys should hatch the eggs on.... Saturday. So once again on the first Saturday in May (i hope) to get chickens again. None of it planned that way thats how it all worked out.

I remember too, the old gang was between 26-28 weeks old before I got my first eggs, so this is so remarkable and FUN! Happy One Year Anniversary, I missed mine... not on purpose, just didn't realize when 4/22 came around, that was our one year deal and their hatchday anniversary... on the 21st was Pie-less. I'm a bad Mother.

We got TWO double yolkers today! Which is actually funny because I thought everyone laid yesterday (except the broody of course) and it's when they skip a day that I get the double's. And it's usually only one girl who does that. So, this is a bit interesting!


Broody is going very well. She actually went out in the yard and ran around a little today when the others were free ranging. When I went to check on her, she was back on the eggs

It's been in the upper 90's here, so the eggs probably didn't even cool down by the time she was back

I grew up in NY, (New Yawk) but lived in MA for a decade... now i have a funny accent. i hate the way i sound on the videos (not my voice, don't care about that, it's my accent... it's weird) people in NY drink cawfee, eat chawcolate... people in MA drink caffee, eat chacolate... I found a middle ground. I drink coffee and eat chocolate... but lots of my words are distinctly one state or the other, and mixed together... no one knows where I'm from. my Mom was a stickler for diction as well, so I never dropped the "er" from the ends of words like most NY'ers such as I have a mother, not a motha.

That's interesting. When you were talking to Mylee in the video, I was trying to identify your accent. First thought New York, but then decided you sounded more Boston. I don't really have much experience with either (except for TV and movies), but wasn't too far off!

Haha! My Brit friends could be a bit snooty about proper pronunciation, although they didn't seem to think there was anything wrong calling me Lynder.

and good girl broody! I guess spring is over for CA. Summer's here already, well, at least until the end of the school year celebrations where it will be cold and foggy or drizzling for any class picnic or swim party.

Happens more often than not! We topped out at 86* today and it's supposed to get warmer all week.

Saw your white EEs on the other thread, but am not sure about them. My guess would be that the first one is a pullet (I don't know,

she just looks like one) and the second one with the long curved tail feathers is a cockerel (his comb is a bit more prominent). Certainly wouldn't bet the farm on it. This looks like a case of you'll know when they crow, or hopefully lay eggs.

Spring never really showed up here. But then, I'm in the high desert. I used to live in Vacaville, so I'm a little familiar with where you are. Weather up there was better!

Lynder...that's so funny and I can relate... upstate NY is different from downstate. downstate they call me Ay-unn. upstate, my name is Ee-unn. there's a carrier named Ian... and he and I have to laugh when we work in the same office cuz the PM or anyone... will say "hey Ee-unn..." and we have no idea which one of us they are talking to... funny thing is, if I tell you my name, I say Ann, like "an" apple... but it never clicks... but I have to share this randomly posted thingy on my fb page... timing eh?
