Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Sounds like she is still struggling.  Did you try vitamins/electrolytes for her?  She may need the boost, and I wouldn't expect any eggs until she puts the weight back on.

She's eating and drinking well. And I'm letting her out to free range daily. She got lots of provysol vitamins when I was syringe feeding her. I also had an extra waterer with electrolytes in it for a while. I'm thinking she would benefit from a few more doses of vitamins.

So I have been breaking out in hives all week. Tonight I felt like my throat may be closing, so I called my MIL to come down in case I needed to go to the hospital while my husband is at work. I have never had an allergic reaction before, and I have no idea what is causing it, but I have it narrowed down to strawberries, tomatoes, chocolate or...eggs. None of those are really acceptable for me to be allergic to. I am NOT happy. I have taken a Benedryl, which means I feel like crap and I refuse to nurse my child while taking this stuff so everything just got even more complicated around here. Yuck.

Hope you feel better, this has been a horrible allergy spring. My poor DH is all plugged and snuffly, eyes all runny. I have never seen him this bad.
Hope your Dr can get you set on something safe to take.

I have just loved all the broody hen pics with the new babies. I am sooo envious! I have yet to have a broody chicken. Ducks, geese and guinea

I have missed so much the last few weeks

still fighting raccoon and fox. the coons found a way into my maran coop and wiped out all 8 of my babies, just horrid. I use chain link and hand weave it all together, but missed a corner stake, so its my own fault. I am just sick over it. I was ready to just give up on the whole thing. (NOT) DH told me "get mad and get even!" I have snares all over and 3 live traps going... 2 have been dispatched already.
On another note, I bid and won some african goose eggs, and am super excited

I still want sebastol (sp) they are just beautiful. Lot harder to find. The African are much larger, but more friendly than the chinese. My Dads pacing around my incubators asking me several times a day "WHY aren't they hatched yet!" LOL, Dad....He just loves the geese.

Good morning friends. Still busy busy and miss you guys. Chicks are five weeks today. Hope to get something done on the broody coop/run today. Weather is nice. Garden is good. Pictures asap. As for Roger I can report that she is still my top compost ingredient producer. That is all. Will try to post pictures this evening.

Sorry to hear about the hives, saraki. Sounds kind of scary. I agree that allergies to those particular foods would be unacceptable! (Not chocolate!!

) Odd to have it start in adulthood with foods I'm sure you've had before. Could it possibly be hormone related? Or you got bit by something and didn't feel it? You going to see a doctor? Hope things get better soon.

I discovered an allergy to R.C. cola around 19. It is not a popular soda, so IDK if I am still allergic. About three years later I became allergic to chocolate, cats, and soft T.P. (that is a bad allergy to have!). I stopped breaking out when exposed to poison ivy.
Chocolate and some colas have an ingredient in common that would explain the soda allergy. I was allergic to chocolate for 8 years. The allergy is gone now. Apparently your taste buds live for 7 years, and that has something to do with food allergies (don't ask me. It is what the doctor said). That is why we say a child "out grows" an allergy.

Hey! We want her to experience the "joy" of BR! Stop scaring the poor woman away!
My BR was moved with her babies into her own coop last night. She freaked out, and finally ran down the ramp, and into the run. That is where they slept. Today I tried, but she and the chicks were not going to go up into the coop, so I had to move the food and water down to the ground. I was worried the chicks would dehydrate thanks to their mother's stupidity.

12 Eggs today! and the weather was glorious! the girls were out for hours this morning, the boys for hours this afternoon, followed again by the girls for maybe another 90 minutes... so relaxing! the chicks are growing nicely, behaving themselves well, listening to Mama's every chirrup. one of the marans has copper feathers in the neck. they move so fast, hard to get pics... Peachy moves them along...

She is an EE (right?)
I wouldn't say it is common, but not unheard of. Lucky you! If you let her brood, I wouldn't let her have her own eggs yet. Odd sized and shaped eggs don't hatch well, and the chicks born are more likely to have issues.

I put the first mini saw horse into the coop, and the chicks immediately began jumping on it. It wasn't even unfolded. It was leaning against the wall. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that it was full when I went to add the BCM chicks. I don't think I have ever had chicks take to something so fast before. Of any age! I will have to figure out a permanent roost for all of them.

hi guys, uneventful day, finally. Since everyone is now in the big coop, my problems stopped. There was some bickering, but I am kinda surprised how well the flock merge went. Rebel and Tank are the 2 roosters that are still gentlemen, and don't try to attack me. Well...Red has been dethroned... Rebel is now the head rooster, only to be commanded by Big G. (G kicks everyone's butt lol!) I let the 4 boys work out their differences. If it got bad, G broke it up, I didn't intervene unless I saw blood.
Not hatching and selling while the flocks are combined, no point. I am getting well over 2 dozen eggs daily with all the australorps. My first Pekin egg is pipped

super excited about having more, they are an adorable duck! Friendly personalities and really fun to have. The scovies have always been a little timid, so its a refreshing change. Her mate is one of the first birds that were taken, so I am real happy to see the babies being born. My geese have stopped laying for the year i think, no eggs in several days. Scovy have slowed way down too, but the guinea are doing great! Have 5 new whites already, and they are hatching out strong, active babies. Time to start selling eggs
