distractions... i had hopped up to do something, forgot I had that whole paragraph sitting unposted... went out and cut the lawn from 4-6, and now that I'm completely exhausted... realized... knucklehead... I have 12 eggs for the day, that one weighs in at almost 3 ounces... I need a bath

I've always thought to call it a "song" is pushing things a bit.  Have you ever heard them do the shrieking-squawking-something's-going-to-kill-me alert call, like when a hawk goes over?  The egg song sounds pretty much like that.  I have a few hens that don't do it at all.  We call them Stealth Layers.  Wish I had more of those type, actually.

My first nine white eggs. The two on the right are the very first two. The brown one is because I was thinking how small the pullet eggs are. The brown one is the same size. I didn't weigh them. I think I will.


3.7oz egg on top. I didn't weigh her last egg like this, but it was just a tad smaller. I hope her eggs get smaller again.

That is a medium egg, jumbo egg, and the Ouch egg next to each other.

Broody coop and run has been opened. New home to Big Broody, Little Roger, Mr Delaware, and Little Red. No more sitting on the poop board all day so they won't get beat up by the thugs. Happy mom and her three chicks now living the good life.

sweet! I am expanding again too. Be glad when the turkeys are in the freezer, they are HUGE!
