Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

good luck getting it up and out MC! I would absolutely go down to the wood floor, especially since it's warm weather. you may want an area rug for winter, if the floor is chilly... I"m not a fan of carpet either, it traps so much filth that never comes up no matter how much I vacuum. I'm so loving the wood floor in the hallway, my handyman started ripping up the downstairs flooring that was under the carpet, some spots have vinyl floor, some tiles, some the roll out yucky stuff, and some areas have sub flooring... the house is pretty much painted, except the kitchen, that's tomorrow... if we lived closer, I'd come help you move furniture, I sure can relate... I have to empty the kitchen tonight...
 
using the flea collar in the vacuum truly works, and it's a very inexpensive solution. even the 99 cent collar works. my younger brother had fleas in his house one summer so bad... he bombed the place 2ce and fleas were still hopping around my ankles when I came to help. 2 trips around the cottage with the vacuum et voila! no more fleas!

off topic, but also interesting... I use tobacco around the perimeter of my house, especially the doorways. it's more of a spiritual thing... keep "evil" away so to speak, but it also keeps ants and all kinds of bugs out. many years ago, my ex from back then... had made friends with someone at work. I didn't care for her much, but... whatever... so one day, she was visiting... and I went about my business of sprinkling tobacco around the outside. she started to complain that she didn't feel well. she had to eventually lie down. so I went further and sprinkled tobacco down the driveway and around the entire perimeter of the half acre property. by the time I was finished, she looked like she was dying... ???) she was so sick, my ex had to drive her home in her car, and I had to follow to bring him back home. She Never came back to my house again. I also burn sage to cleanse and purify... I don't smoke the tobacco

but I've been using it for decades... 1 bag lasts a really long time. and who knows what was with that woman... but she drank on the job, told lies and was in general, not nice.

I've read that cigarettes are quite toxic to chickens. Don't know if it's the tobacco or some other component, but I'd be careful around the flock.

It looks like they began painting it, then quit, and put down the nice looking wood linoleum, and then put down the carpets. I will just take up the green carpet, and leave the patterned the rug.
 
yes, she recovered after a couple of days, it must have been a coincidence... right???

I only sprinkle tiny amounts of shredded natural tobacco, no additives. the chickens don't touch it for the most part. one of my cats will eat it, so it is important to only use a tiny tiny amount.

I had learned a great deal about homeopathy and natural remedies when I was studying Human Bio in College... some of the practices are worth sticking to, especially the Native American and Chinese... remedies, the tobacco ritual makes me feel good. I only do it 4 times a year. maybe one more time for good measure if someone who creeps me out comes to the door.
 
Very nice OK! I haven't had a perfect day since that one day... long ago.

I think this batch of eggs that Peachy is sitting on will be her last round for the year. I know she'll want to sit again in the Fall, but I won't allow temptation to gain control... best to wait til Spring... and her fist round will hopefully be her own eggs with any of the 4 banty boys.

Speaking of those banty boys... they sure are bold little guys! one of the reds, Rhody, likes to hang with the big girls. yesterday, he found himself deep inside the dome. how did he get out, you ask? he hopped up onto Opal's back, next to Yancy, then onto Tiger..and so forth, basically "back hopped" his way to the front door. he is one third the size of the LF. Today, all 4 banty boys had quite the time chasing the LF hens about the yard... one would think it would be the other way around...
