Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

12 Eggs... and I let them out for about an hour. lured them back in with kitten mash... boy do they love that stuff... and just as I was sitting down... and picking up the keyboard that the dogs knocked down... ruby typed a ? and it posted... so I'm editing... Chester got out the front door, I guess I didn't latch it tight or he learned to hit the latch... not sure. caught him fairly quickly up the road, barking at the horses. glad he didn't get zapped by the electric fence...

SIX........Today We Laid SIX Eggs........AKA...."haf dozen"

oh bummer about the hatching eggs Sally! how far along were they?

welcome back MC! a lot of those posts are worth perusing when you have a moment or if you can't sleep, but many of them were recaps of some of the poetry from last year... and Peachy hatched one Silkie chick, so adorable, but the chick arrived on day 25, when I was no longer expecting any hatches and I picked up 4 bantam Marans chicks... Super Mom doesn't mind.

SBMom, if she'll keep sitting, why not try to hatch the eggs... don't move her, see what you get?

I am hurt. overextended something in my left forearm, and knew it wasn't good. I got home early (2:00) feeling pretty crappy, didn't get enough sleep last night either, so I went to lie down. slept til 5:00 and when I woke up, my forearm problem had settled into the elbow as well. feel like I just played a round of tennis against a Pro. awful. and it finally started pouring just as I got back inside with the dogs. I have yet to check on the chickens. kitchen flooring is also started, it's going to look amazing!

That reminds me. The living room may be the only room in the house that doesn't have linoleum under the carpets. The 2 upstairs bedrooms have linoleum, and I found out that the office, kitchen and dining room also are linoleum. I tried to get the carpet up a little to see what was in store for me in the kitchen, and the linoleum is filthy, and looks like it will be white(ish) with black Astrix all over it. Probably the dining room too. Those carpets look like they may come right up (not sealed to the linoleum) but the office is another scrape job. I couldn't tell the pattern in the office.
So, I need to decide what rooms will have carpeting, and which won't. The living room will eventually have proper carpeting. I can't say I want linoleum in the dining room. Has anyone ever seen linoleum in a dining room? Of allllll (about 20) the places I have lived, and the tons of other places I have seen, I have yet to see such a thing. I have a large rug (those rolled up rectangle rugs that are like 8 X 12 for about $30 at Wal Mart) and several oval area rugs to use in the office. The master bedroom has decent carpeting (seems newish) and ironically the sun room and laundry room (was a mudroom) have good carpeting. The hallway will probably keep its carpeting too.
In Dessert Storm, my cousin was Secret Ops. He has been dying for a long time. In comas, kidney failure, all better, half dead ... They didn't know where he had been (since he wasn't allowed to tell them) so they couldn't cure him. Last night he was found dead in his home. I can't say I am upset. It has been coming for a long long time. He is free now.

so cool OK! sure wish I hadn't lost Violet... she might have been willing to brood again... could have joined you and Sally in a hatchalong...

been hard at work here, the floor installation has begun! check it out:

I love it and it's nice up against the 1970's kinda orange varnish on the trim, door, stairs, ceiling beams and stair wall in the living room... it's everywhere... shellac

way too much work to redo that, I would never paint it... I much prefer seeing the wood grain and knots and more natural look, even if it's unnatural orange.

So sorry to hear about your cousin, MC. A war vet deserves better than that, but you are right about him being free.

Cheeka, the floor is going to look amazing. After all this fixing up are you seriously considering moving west? Has the Mylee countdown begun?

One week left before school starts here. Melancholy abounds!

MC... sounds like your house was built in the 50's from the patterns of the linoleum... which was ever so popular... 60's-70's it was carpet, and horrible carpet at that. that puckery stuff, they make bedspreads like it... can't think of the proper name... I have that upstairs in the bedroom... and shag... a nightmare... so glad it's gone. shag carpet in a dining room of all places... talk about a crumb catcher...! where I grew up, we had no carpet in the dining room. there were hardwood floors with virtually no finish left and a very nice Oriental rug. that house was nice, and my folks (or my Mom I should say...) did a lot of redecorating and one huge addition in the 70's... (I got SHAG carpet in my bedroom - oooooooh...! lol) only the bedrooms had carpet and the living room as well, but we were not allowed in the living room except on Sundays after church, we would read the comics on the floor. we had a den, or TV room as we called it, that's where my brothers and I hung out...

I guess I was a dork. I loved the start of school... I loved shopping for school supplies and new clothes... planning the whole day starting a week in advance... yep. dork.

Mylee and her Grandmother called Oma are on their way!!!!!!! they are driving up, and they are making quite an adventure out of the journey. they left 2 days ago, and should get here in another 2 days, or Sunday at the latest. Last night, they made it to Oklahoma City by suppertime. great day, they made a lot of miles but also stopped to see windmills in Texas, and another spot earlier in Oklahoma so Mylee could ride her scooter and run around and play. Tonight, they are in Kentucky! I told Mylee to wave to OK and Roger which she did very enthusiastically! We have longtime and very dear family friends in Clay. they are thrilled to have Oma and Mylee stay overnight. "Cousin" Bev has Cluck Clucks! so ... they can stay all day tomorrow and rest and play, and leave Saturday morning... in that case, they would get here Sunday, suppertime. I've been reorganizing and got some great hand-me-down toys, she now has a corner, roughly 20% of the living room devoted to her...

I still have to set up all her horses and corrals...which will be spread out in front of all this with space inbetween... and get the dollhouse furniture from the attic... I so love the little vanity, it lights up and Ariel appears in the mirror and says "you are so beautiful, lets brush our hair" and there is a fork, just like Ariel, the Little Mermaid, used to comb her hair... it says lots of things... but that just cracked me up. it was a gift from the 7 year old granddaughter of someone on my route, just so sweet of her... she said she was "too big" to play with it

I'm going to be 49 in a couple of months and I"m not too big to play with it! I had a blast "making sure it all worked"

oops, forgot to say, yes W4W, I am fixing the house to sell it. I am moving west. I've decided. I'll find a place between Denver and Albuquerque where it's not too hot... I can transfer my job... it will take a while, the housing market it improving, and I'm not greedy... will sell the house for a fair price, but it will take time. I can't go til I've sold this place.
