Haha,
MC, sounds like your body is trying to get ready for winter and wanting to put some meat on your bones. How old is your delicious looking pullet? They can get awfully tough as they get older. Something like under 16 weeks if you want to roast it, then there's an age window for braising and stew, and after that they're used mostly for broth. (can't remember the exact ages for a dual purpose type). Traditional French Coq au Vin works best with an older bird (it was how the farmers' wives got rid of old roosters and giving them a new purpose). None of it seems wrong to me, just seems like you're hungry!
C-lindz, your new coop is beyoootiful. Lucky chickens!
Ooops,
Cheeka. Oddly I remembered the day of your b-day, but got the month wrong. I do remember your age though, because we will soon be the same age until March.
On the home front, egg count continues to stay low, but molting feathers are growing back, so after a month or 2 to rest up, I expect the girls to get it in gear and start cranking them out. We can barely keep a dozen in the fridge, because folks at hubs' work ask for them. Speaking of hubs, he left Friday for an overnight flight to Hong Kong. Another 10 days of work before he can come home. Small chance for some rain on Tues.
Got to get the boys and go do some rain-dancing.
