Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

One dozen eggs again today! Woo hoo! I had 13.2 yesterday ... I got an egg so small, I barely saw it under the roost. Three (crazy) Leghorns are now laying. One more needs to get it goin' again.

My reliable RIR, Penny did lay an egg today. That makes 2 for the day. I really do not think that Smoke or Si will lay today, but two is good.

The little footballs are cute too! My 15 y.o. loves olives but not eggs. If I made these, they would be naked in no time.

If your DH complains about the spiders, just remind him that they are called Deviled eggs!

Happy super bowl watching. Are you having people over to watch?

We are going to friend's place to watch the game. I also made blue and green finger jello shots. Yum.....

my December chicks all started between 17.5 and 19 weeks.   I thought my older birds were hiding eggs, it didn't occur to me that the younger could be laying yet as it was a full two month longer wait the previous year... .then I found 3 blue eggs in one day.  and I only had 1 blue egg layer... I was stunned!

I won't expect that in the future, the later additions all went beyond 6 months before the first egg... and I'm still waiting on 1 Cochin and of course, Silkie... but Cochin Zira's comb is finally turning kind of orange-pink.  should be this month hopeuflly...

Yikes! I did think 17.5 was possible! Good thing I got my fake eggs in the mail yesterday!

Ummm I wasn't as well behaved as Lindz! I have 10 babies coming this week cause I'm splitting an order w a friend I talked into getting chickens! Don't ask how many chicks will fit in my coop.... Yikes!!!!

lol, I"m a precise corn eater. exact rows... from left to right. like a typewriter. I do need a white egg layer, but only like 1 or 2 birds. I only want a random sprinkling of white in the basket... I'll have to look into breeds... I really don't want Leghorns, mostly because of their tall combs and the horrible frostbite some have had... needs to be a small comb/wattle bird... it's funny to not have white eggs... I can get some from the place where Pebble lives, they have 2 Leghorns... but it's not the same... that's like cheating... even if I did start that flock...

nice basket! the peewee egg is precious! love new layers, and that splotchy egg is cool too - I like anomalies.

CLindz, when I realized the younguns were laying I was astounded... I only had 6 laying and I was finding 7-8 eggs... sometimes in funny places that I might have missed the day before so... who knew? but the day came when I knew I had found them all and the next day I had 10 more and 3 were blue... real "doh" moment...
you'll have fun with your peeps, and we'll all wish we had gone and ordered some... so share lots of pics so we can drool over them!

I got 7 yesterday and 5 so far today! I'm so excited my numbers are on the rise!
