Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Janet, thinking of your MIL and your family

... hip replacements are interesting surgeries. it amazes me that they get the patient up within hours of surgery and start them walking! my best friend's mom had it years ago - she was bent over badly just trying to walk. 6 hours after her surgery, she was walking better than she had in years and with lots less pain! I hope she's doing great and is happy that she went to have it done! my mom has had knee replacement surgery, not an easy recovery... supposed to be more painful...

Whoops, I'm not the one to help either... I've never used an incubator. only a broody hen, and I took her word for it, when she kicked an egg out and I'd found it stone cold... I did not open it. no eggtopsy...I just would put it in the trash gently, so as not to break it. I don't want to see. you'd think I would, I have a degree in Human Biology, did hundreds of dissections between HS and College. but nope, can't won't whatever... I'm so sorry about Ursula and the others who didn't hatch... I've heard the same about Marans eggs being difficult, but there is a woman in my town who's excellent with hatching, she's here on byc, "horse" something, I'll look her up. she uses both incubators and broody hens, it may be she leaves the Marans eggs with the broody... I'll ask.

I took my elderly friend to pick up her new glasses today, she was so excited! the new specs are very nice and so far so good... she can see all right, and then we did a little grocery shopping and I stopped to get feed, she was laughing when I came out with the 4th 50# bag and told her we needed to drive around back to get the corn... the clerk was joking with her that my birds would be delicious as they are the best fed birds in the area... it's because of me that they carry white millet by the 50# sack, and meal worms - they didn't have them before and now those are both huge sellers...

6 Eggs, back in the old days... that would have been a perfect day. sigh.

Got pictures today. Will download and post later. Heritage Delaware and BR girls looking good. And starting to lay good too. Spring should be eggciting with these new chicks.
