Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

As of today,Hattie and Hecate have laid a total of 30 eggs. Not bad, considering they just started in the last week of January. And, I got to give away my first eggs! Astrid is, alas, experimenting with crowing, (fortunately, he is hilariously incompetent at it) but I believe George is a pullet!

Could still be a girl. I have one that crows very badly but I really think it's a she.

It is cute when they first lay....the eggs are real small....

Alas, no. Astrid had a pink comb and wattles almost since s/he was hatched. I have decided that he will be my "starter roo" or my "see if the neighbors will tolerate it" roo. At least, I would like to keep him until George is big enough to play with the big girls.

Too bad about Astrid. If you can see wattles developing, that is a pretty good sign. I like having the pint sized Serama rooster around. He is very different from the way the hens act and very fun to watch. Not a mean bone in him either. You might really like having one around, except maybe at 5am!

3 very fluffy butts are here! I have been taking pictures and will post them later. I really will! Waiting for our 4-H people to get here so we can have our poultry project meeting.

Cochin pics to come. And maybe I can sneak a few of Ming kitty.
