I got 10 yesterday. Hoping least a dozen today. It is getting harder to make the egg order. I guess that's a good thing.
I have to do some errands for my dad today. It drives me crazy.

lindz, I know that scene... running out of eggs daily, Winter was so rough getting only 2 eggs a day on average... my customers were piling up fast! they had to take turns... and I lost 1 customer who told me she found someone else...sorry... oh well... she was good for 2 dozen a week... but I won't be worrying about it, somebody else will buy them!

help your Dad with all your heart. I know timing can be inconvenient, give him the best you are!

Still kicking around the idea of picking up some marans chicks from the bird lady. What the heck happened to my plan to get some nice, early and often laying sex links? Now I'm all crazy with the fancy pants breeder birds that take their sweet time deciding to lay.

My eggs are half cooked today, so I guess that's good. One day closer to being possibly overwhelmed with baby chicks that I can't keep and don't have space for since they can't go outside in the 2 feet of snow we have. Whose idea was this anyway?

I think the chickens have gone nuts today (no, not just today!). I had the feed bucket on the floor between the 2 hanging feeders. Baby, the BR sat in front of me on the edge of the bucket. I began scooping, and she ate from the scoop. I scooped again, she ate again. Silly bird!

19 eggs!! Pretty soon you will be getting 2 dozen per day. That's a lot of eggs.

You're going to be getting 2 dozen a day too! Sorry about your sick chick. What seems to be the trouble? Maybe some vitamins would help her get over the winter blahs.

not sure what is wrong with her got meds that we have to give her 2x a day,
we where gettig 22 eggs then the bad weather came and they where keep in coop, we do have 29 hens counting the sick one, but this is the first year in five yrs that they slowed this bad that is why i say it is the weather, we have 2 roos that keep the hens active.

I don't mind helping most of the time. It just always feels one sided....

He won't really do anything for himself. Like today.... he bought a car, and the finance company put a GPS tracker in it. He paid it off back before Thanksgiving, but in order to get the title he had to have the GPS tracker taken out. Well, he called and asked if I would go with him to have it done. I told him yes I'd go with him. Well, that turned into "When are you going to take my car to have that thing taken out? I really need my title!". So this morning, I had to go 45 minutes up to my dad's house to get his car, then drive back down the mountain past my house to take his car into town to get the GPS tracker off.... I THINK he is bringing my van back down tonight, but if not, then I'll have to go back up the mountain to take his car back and get my van.

It wouldn't be aggravating if I could count on him to help me out sometimes.... but he was supposed to come fix our driveway with his tractor when we moved in.... We have been here 13+months and he still hasn't been down... We are going to have to hire someone to fix our driveway so that my mom can have the gravel brought in that she bought us for Christmas!!!!!

Sorry... didn't mean to go on a tirade.... just a sore subject...

I spent the better part of two hours trying to trap one of my fish today and he steadfastly refuses to be trapped. This is the second time I've tried to trap this little jerk and he is just laughing in my face.

A couple of months ago I had a very deadly parasite go through my aquarium. It killed almost all of my fish. The survivors had to be removed to another temporary tank and the main tank had to be free of fish for 8 weeks to be sure it was gone. This one fish refuses to be caught. A net won't work. I even tried draining the whole tank to get him out. couldn't get him. This is very frustrating. I need to get every last fish out of there before the clock can start on the 8 weeks. I've been neglecting trying to get him out but today I thought I would have another try. Nope. ARGH. Too smart for his own good.

I know what you are saying. Draining usually works. I think you need a bigger net!

No they're completely impossible to catch with a net. They just hide in the rocks and those can't be moved.

This is the culprit.


You know....now that I think of it he kinda looked barred.

And he likes to hang out on rocks....

Maybe he is a distant relative of she who must not be named.

That would explain a LOT.
