Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Mine go on lock down today! I'm going to candle them first and then take the turner out. I have a couple of little plastic baskets I am going to separate them in.

Good luck with your hatch SBM.

Good luck guys with your hatching! Whoops how's it going for you?

I got three blue amerucanas from MPC. I was kinda hoping they wouldn't hatch well and the order would get cancelled but I got the call from the PO at 7 this am.

So this go round they are in the extra bathroom. I don't have forced air heat so I figure it'll be easily to clean that after them.

However the only downfall is that I accidentally locked the cat in w them. He must have snuck in behind me. But so proud of him for leaving them alone.

Now I'm stressing about integrating the flock. The 10 babies are in their own coop but Phyllis and her posse were mean to them the one time I had them all out together...it's not like they don't have all the space in the world to free range.

Quiet today! Where is everyone??? I'm bored !

Almost burned the house down today. I didn't like the set up I had for the heat lamps so I went and grabbed the one from the coop that has a clamp. I cleaned off the dome and plugged it in. Started smoking.... Didn't think to clean the bulb. The dust on the bulb would have totally caught on fire! Lesson learned!

I entered these pics in the "natural egg" contest!

Here is another picture of the chicks I was talking about a week or so ago. They appear to be the same breed and I still have suspicions about one of them being a future meal...

My hatchalong eggs are still percolating. They looked good the last time I candled, until I dropped one.

It didn't break, but it bounced on the carpeted floor and I am highly dubious that one will hatch. I'll know when I candle them Friday for the second "official" candling whether to pull it. The incubator seems to be holding a good temp and a good humidity. For the seven day candling, the eggs were right on track for weight loss. I am hopeful I will get some chickies, but we will know Easter. George is out free ranging in the vaguely similar area as the rest of the flock, and last night she went into the coop on her own. No more broken eggs, so all is good on that front. Chickenlindz, the eggs are so beautiful and dark! I hope George gives me some like that. She hatched from a nice, dark egg, but she is a splash. Good Luck, Fellow Hatchers!

Mortie, I have to agree with your suspicions. I think you got a King's ransom, there.

My mom had a load of gravel delivered this morning. Hubby stayed home sick. I went to the grocery store and Goodwill today. Came home, put away groceries and raked out some places where the gravel was piled up. Washed 4 dozen eggs for a customer. Locked down the eggs in the incubator. And today was a low egg day with only 9.
