Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

FINALLY !!! As the Count from Sesame Street would say....ONE...ONE...little eggy...HA HA HA!

I have no idea which one layed yet, I'll have to put a camera into the coop.
Thanks to all for the ideas. I gave them the crushed red pepper, played them recordings of egg song, and put a light in the coop on a timer.
Congratulations! The first one is pretty exciting, but honestly it's still a little thrilling to collect eggs even after a few years.

Other than the lighting, I've always wondered if those tricks actually make a difference. At least they keep us busy while we are waiting!

The girls or as my wife calls them my "harem" are 22 weeks.
My youngest child (2yrs old) 's found it when we went in to feed and water.

I was wondering about the Sesame St. reference. Now I know! What a cutie and how wonderful that he found the very first egg.

Hello, just thought I would share my morning with you all. ..... Omg my worms came today!! ** Small word of advise though... Let your DH (dear hubby) know that you've ordered them so that he doesn't open them and freak out thinking that " whatever you ordered is bad! It's covered in worms!!" Lmba!! He said he now (after 24yrs), has confirmation that I'm nuts!!"

I've seen your name in the who's viewing box a few times. Glad you stopped in to say hi.

We chicken people will go to great lengths to make our feathered darlings happy, even if it seems a little nutty!

How many chickens do you have? Are they laying yet?

Well, the unimaginable happened today. I bought eggs at the store! (

Don't boot me from the thread.) We sold a bunch, gave a bunch to family, and neglected to remember that I needed eggs to make cakes for tomorrow's 4-H Chicken Que fundraiser. At least in a cake, you can't tell that the eggs were pale and sad looking. They were really expensive too. No wonder people are incredulous when we only ask for $3.

I guess the old saying of the shoemakers kids having no shoes applies to chicken owners too!!!! I won't tell but I will giggle!!!

Buying eggs for baking is not a bad thing. They will never know. Your secret is safe with us.
