Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Does the thrill of getting eggs ever become routine with you all? I sure hope not! I have fun getting eggs from the big girls already but can not wait until my other girls start to lay!! :)

Oh and to answer an earlier question, yes Ninja does lay a bluish green egg :)
How funny!! Ninja doesn't care for the meal worms lol I threw a couple down and she raced over and grabbed one, spit it out (did tis about 3 times) then stomped on it and walked away giving me a look like " really mom!!??"!! Everyone else looked happy as clams!

Well I gave her 4 and she rolled then right under her. Went for a 5th but she just let it sit there. So I'll just let her do 4 this time. She's a silkie and these are LF eggs so I don't want to push it.

The chicks were playing "Queen" of the mountain on a rock I put in the broody pen. They were sparring and knocking each other off. Then one of the Lavender Ameraucanas found a worm. The chase was ON!!!

I wish I could get pictures, but they are so darn quick. One egg so far and that is my only egg. A coworker gave me a huge bag of straw for nesting material, so I want to pay her with eggs.

Actually they will be 16 wks July 1st and I could see my RSL going sometime in July but I think my ameracaunas are going to make me sweat it out possibly another 8 weeks from then. I bet they wait til they're 24 weeks.

How happy is a clam?
A friend had a "crazy broody" for two or three weeks now. She finally picked up her meat birds (BBW and CRX) and the broody took them immediately.
I see that Cheeka can agree (as I am sure all women can!) that the most powerful words are not "I love you" "I hate you" or even "I am sorry". The three most powerful words are, "I am coming"
for with these words, you find the energy to do more cleaning than you have been able to get done in a week!
I am washing eggs today. I got way behind. It is taking me a while, but I am down to about three, maybe four gallons of eggs including today's. I say gallon because I was collecting eggs in a feed bucket again. No sense putting them all in the sink either. I believe I had this conversation with you guys about a month ago. Anyone remember how many eggs I said fit in the bucket? I want to know what I am in for.
