Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I mean once you blow them out. Can you coat it in something to make it less likely to break?

I never got that far since the egg I wanted to save got eaten but there must be a shellac or something you can use.

Rhody died this morning. Rest in peace my little sweetheart.

I knew when I woke up. I woke with a start and had a bad feeling. tried to shake it off... and got some blueberries for him and headed out - telling myself I was being overly dramatic. no poops, and he was in the same position as he got in to sleep. I will see if Cornell does necropsies for free or a small charge. I don't want to lose more.

WOW......sorry to hear this cheeka. Wonder if it was too hot in there. It was mid 70's here this morning. I would like to know if you find out. The walking problem combined with him eating and drinking had me convinced he would be OK. You did what I would have done. But it happens despite our best efforts. Sorry

thanks OK, I was pretty stunned too... but when I woke up yesterday, I had a bad feeling... didn't want to be dramatic about "a feeling" so I hustled out, expecting to find him sitting... but to discover that my feeling was right was just awful. it was really hot, but it's much cooler in their pens, and there is almost always at least a small breeze... I still haven't heard from Cornell, which is very frustrating. I have a few places to call later today...

I lost one of my mamas and 2 of the chicks last night.... Going to have the live trap set tonight, and hope that I catch whatever got them.

still no egg, today she's being very...I don't know, she won't come when I call her or even when I rid bit for her. I don't feel an egg in there. Puberty mood swings maybe? One day she's enamored with me, the next day she couldn't care less if I disappeared off the face of the earth?

24 Eggs today. I'm 6 short for tomorrow's order. but at least I got 10 more than yesterday.

so, I was kind of annoyed at the nice kid who's digging out the Dome. he came early today without calling, and let the flock out in the rain. (while I was at work) I didn't lose anyone, thank goodness, but it took me forever to get them back in. by the time I did, I was soaked and overheated. anyway, by late afternoon, it cleared up, so I let them back out for a couple of hours. yesterday, I was in a funk, because of Rhody, but today, I let him go. he had a great life, a comfortable spot to depart from... just let it all go and got back to enjoying all the rest of them. we had applesauce and I let them wipe their beaks on my jeans... my knees were muddy anyway.

Henry struck out on his own, without his pal holding him back... it was sweet to see that he'll maybe do better with the ladies now...

I have never seen him on the stump. never.

Big Broody really screeched at me when I went to retrieve today's eggs. maybe she's ready to give it another go?? I'm willing to let her have the Foster eggs that I collect over the next 2-3 days...

Peach is doing great, refused noodles tho' which surprised me, but she had already eaten... close of Day 4
