Wow, you guys have been chatty...
Hey Ok! Long time since you've stopped in! Glad to hear everything is going well!
Cheeka, again, I am so sorry about Rhody.
That pullet look ready!!! WOO HOO for first eggs!
We have had some severe storms around here today.... The chickens were let out early this morning and ran for cover around lunchtime when the storms started. The G.comet broody is still holding tight to the nest, although she did have one incident of musical nests yesterday....She went to a nest with 3 eggs instead of her nest with 10... It was kinda my fault cause I had rigged up a "curtain" to deter the other hens, and it had fallen over the door. OOPS.... good thing it was in the 80's yesterday, and I don't think they were left for very long.... She jumps off first thing in the morning and runs to eat, runs to get water, runs to take a quick 30 second dust bath, runs back to the water, and runs back to the nest.... the whole process takes about 3 minutes.... and she is cackling the whole time! She is so funny to watch.
Paisley is doing good! Zauk is starting to move around better, but has licked open a couple more of his wounds... They are GROSS!!!!! Not infected or anything, but deep and draining. UGH.... And I have to clean them up and put Silver Sulfadizine ointment on them 2x a day, and make sure that I get it down into them... There are a couple that I have to stick my finger into first knuckle deep.... Good thing I am not a very queasy person when it comes to stuff like that.
