Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

It's funny but I'm sitting her nervous and anxious waiting on subhanalah's hen to lay!!! I guess I really do have a bad case of chicken fever lol!
I think we all sometimes need that vicarious remembrance of our first eggs....This is my first egg though, so maybe I'm wrong? Judging by what you say! I don't think I am, lol.

I'm so glad to be able to share this with you guys!
Every step of the way...haha

Ahhh I'm so glad I was able to save my first egg... Oh wait my husband made it into an omelet!!!

Wow, you guys have been chatty...
Hey Ok! Long time since you've stopped in! Glad to hear everything is going well!
Cheeka, again, I am so sorry about Rhody.
That pullet look ready!!! WOO HOO for first eggs!
We have had some severe storms around here today.... The chickens were let out early this morning and ran for cover around lunchtime when the storms started. The G.comet broody is still holding tight to the nest, although she did have one incident of musical nests yesterday....She went to a nest with 3 eggs instead of her nest with 10... It was kinda my fault cause I had rigged up a "curtain" to deter the other hens, and it had fallen over the door. OOPS.... good thing it was in the 80's yesterday, and I don't think they were left for very long.... She jumps off first thing in the morning and runs to eat, runs to get water, runs to take a quick 30 second dust bath, runs back to the water, and runs back to the nest.... the whole process takes about 3 minutes.... and she is cackling the whole time! She is so funny to watch.
Paisley is doing good! Zauk is starting to move around better, but has licked open a couple more of his wounds... They are GROSS!!!!! Not infected or anything, but deep and draining. UGH.... And I have to clean them up and put Silver Sulfadizine ointment on them 2x a day, and make sure that I get it down into them... There are a couple that I have to stick my finger into first knuckle deep.... Good thing I am not a very queasy person when it comes to stuff like that.

My first hen to lay an egg did kind of like your girl. Faked me out a few times, but when she did lay, I was there to see it. I keep going to the nest to see if she had laid yet, and just happened to see her stand up and the egg drop out. I was so excited! She was 17 weeks.

*rawr*
What was he thinking!
Speaking of which, how do you blow out eggs?
I had put the egg in the egg basket never thinking he'd make his own breakfast! So kudos for him for being self sufficient and sucky on me for being an idiot!

To blow them I shake the egg to scramble. Use a pin to make a large hole on bottom and small hole on top and then I proceed to give myself an almost aneurysm by blowing by mouth!!!

gorgeous eggs CLindz!

ahh how well I remember my first egg! I thought it was a BR, but it was a RIR... and I remember my second egg - I was working and old BH called me to say I got another egg... and I was all excited, but didn't think to ask what color it was! it was green! and it turned out to be EE Blu's egg. love finding eggs to this day!

and yeah, blowing eggs by mouth is the kind of stuff that makes you feel your head will explode... but it's easy and it's fun, so it's worth it. I blow almost all of the Marans eggs. I do include a few here and there in customers orders, but for the most part, I keep the best ones, it's fair... I pretty much only get bantam eggs for myself...

it was a scorcher today, 91°! with only a light breeze during the hottest part of the day. the flock hung out in the shade. my thoughts were distracted, pretty much all day... such is life. I hope to hear back from Cornell in the morning regarding where to bring the little guy.

14 Eggs today, plus I picked up an order for 3 dozen from a postal customer, the PM will be in tomorrow and she would like a dozen... got a call from another customer who wants 2 dozen and just now hung up from another who wants 4 dozen! I don't have enough to fill her order until Thursday! I'm close, but I need tomorrow's eggs to fill it out... so awesome! they move so darned fast, I wish I hadn't re-homed those 4 Fosters...

good to hear about your boy, and that you're not queasy lol.

So now I have to ask myself if it's more important to know if her first egg will be fertile (not likely, my cockerel is only 13 weeks and hasn't been able to make contact yet, the girls only squat for me, lol) or to save her first egg...easy! Definitely wanna try to save her egg.

is there anything you can do to them so they aren't as easy to break?
