Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

What kind of chicken is peach? Does she have blue in her feathers?

Peach is a bantam EE x Buff Cochin. she has a lot of the buff Cochin traits, but has black in her feathers, ("undesirable") and her leg feathering is on the light side, but she does have them. she also sports a beard, which has molted away momentarily, and she lays a gorgeous green egg. I've heard it's rare to have an EE go broody, but she has been my little champion, starting at around 8.5 months of age, just after she laid her 8th egg. she's the best Mama. lots of hens in my flock were under her care if not actually hatched by her... so she holds a high rank, despite her wee stature.

she reminds me a lot of my Limin Chikin. She's an EE, but no beard.

She's not feeling well today, her appetite is down and she won't come when I call or invite her for a snack. Normally she runs to the porch as soon as she hears that I'm outside to stand on the porch with me.

Here's her last bowel movement.

I smooshed it apart so I could see it better. Looks like some pink mucous as well as shed intestinal lining. She did not sing her egg song today.
Now I'm just really worried about my girl...worms or cocci.
I'm going to give her a warm bath in case it's egg binding, and also put some lubricant on her vent.
Please pray for my sweet little Limin.

Do you have to put the remaining chicks in a brooder, or is there another mama to take them?



Subhahalah, hope Limin Chikin gets better soon. Try giving her some yogurt with active cultures. Won't hurt and might get her digestion back on track.

yes, this is her.
Her poop this morning was formed but green, maybe from eating grass, I don't know.
Her crop had some grit and food in it this morning but had gone down since the night before.

I'm still keeping an eye on her just in case it is something to be worried about.

I messaged Dawg53 last night and he instructed I lube her vent and soak her for a little while. I lubed her vent last night and the previously pictured poop came out.
I gave her the warm soak and massage this morning when I woke up and this egg came about three hours later.

She is her chatty self this morning, yesterday she was very quiet about her speech. Still not as interested in food as I would like, so we'll see...she's still drinking, so that's good and obviously eating even of its just a little bit.

Oh my gosh! Awesome, I'm really happy for you! I am glad she is filling better as well. Now if she wants to talk to my girl to give them a pep talk it would be great! Lol give her a treat and tell her it's from the BYC crew
